Not only are furries generally more socially accepting, the phenomenon is self-perpetuating. I do think there are legitimately more non-heterosexuals (myself included
) in the furry fandom than in society at large. The accepting nature of the fandom creates an environment where people feel free to be open about themselves, which in turn attracts more non-heterosexuals looking for such a community, who then join the community, thereby making it more accepting...
...the cycle continues. And I'm glad for it - beyond simply being a hobby, I think the fandom provides a valuable resource for young people who feel marginalized by their peers for their interests, sexuality, or both, as it provides a place where they can openly explore such themes with other like-minded individuals.
