The fandom... Perhaps its not acceptance, insomuch as it is relation. I'm not saying furries need be gay, instead I am stating that, as social pariah's, in general, I see the furry population as being more accepting of outcasts. This, of course, would mean that it does not matter if your gay, or anything really. Kind of a 'fellowship' in the fact of being rejected by the masses.

Well I dont mean more homosexuals than straight people, but a larger percent of the fandom is homosexual than the percent of homosexuals overall. But i agree with you, Its easier to come out in the fandom than in anywhere else. It seems to be teh same way with the Anime fandom.

well... i dunno about you guys, but i think its not just in the fandom, i think its just, wherever is cyber, its more easier, why? because you don't seem those poeple. if they are meanto you, you just switch forum, site, whatever, you can't just switch citys in real life... well.. my boyfriend thinks the same as i, ijust tough we might not be alone to think that...

I would have to agree that on the internet people are more open. I also think this has alot to do with the fandoms idea of using a fursona so that you can come off as anyone (and anything) you want to be while still protecting your real world identity if you so choose.

Not to mention that we Furries like to stick together so we are alot more accepting to peoples sexualities, quirks etc.

My two cents
Ahem... Cough... Rawr :3

I don't believe the "internet" is more accepting places like "4chan" ect, trolls every where, you just don't give it two looks, because they might as well not be real.

Th fandom over all is more accepting, I mean how can the "trash" of society turn away others, that makes us no better then the "trolls".

And many, just watch how you word things, that could be taken the wrong way, it almost sounds like that you are implying that there is something wrong with them to began with.

Personally, my only issue with homosexuality is that it comes up so often >.> Really, what is, IS, why do people need to rant about the social or religious aspects of it>.> It aint like its new.

ANYHOW, more on topic, the Fandom is VERY accepting, I have found everything from Jugallo's to the most 'abnormal' people, EVER. Its not really who you are, its who's breaking the mold, IMO, just add a love for anthropomorphia and you have a furry..

Thats true. Tbh, anyone who can't take the fact people are different are worse than those who are different themselves.

I was referenceing to this post

And aroen the reason it comes up so much is because there are still problems that must be dealt with but there has already been a topic for that

In general the fandom seems to encourage people to explore their sexuality and this is facilitated by the lowered social expectations and the already large amount of LGBT individuals. It is also easier for individuals to accept themselves within an accepting and friendly community like the fandom.

On the topic of trolls; I believe that people who are prejudiced against certain sexual orientation are just trolls trying to justify their own insecurity.

Sadly life is a bridge, there are trolls everywhere D:

I have vowed to never use the word "weird" because it can hurt others, just because someone isn't like the other person next to them dose not make them a bad thing, they are just different which is perfectly fine. :3
