Not to be an ass, but things like that are going to happen. If the person is that shallow, you didn't even really need to bother with them anyway.

But of course furries are the root of all evil! I mean, look at all the bad, terrible things they do, just because they're a furry!

For example:
Uh...
Er...
Gah...
Um...

You know what i'm talking about, and you should be ashamed!*

*While to may be taken to be offensive to those without a sense of humor, this is not infact bashing furries, but sarcastically bashing the jerks who would say something like this.

People like that do kind of annoy me, but I don't really let them get to me.

why don't you tell us what the guys facebook name is?

Please don't, drexyip.

No matter how big of a jerk the guy could be, he has the right to his privacy, and we're not going to gather ourselves up to go troll him.

Well done, me lad! Well done!  0:)

That is such a sad moment..

I feel sorry for people that use religion as a reason to avoid things they don't know, that certainly including furdom.

So, I met this guy awhile ago at church. I friended him on facebook, we talked and flirted, and he seemed like a cool guy. When I changed my profile pic to an anthro, he immediately commented with, "what are you all furries or something? God hates you, you know that right? (he proceeds to quote from the bible) No one even likes furries, they represent everything wrong with the world." At first I thought he was just trolling, since we had been pretty friendly before. But..turns out he actually hates me now, just for being a fur.
Yeah, I deleted him.

Seriously? *facepaw*

Times like these make me ashamed of being christian. Why can't those religious people realize that God does not hate or discriminate? On the contrary, God loves everyone and is willing to forgive sinners despite whatever wrong they may have caused.

Wow, some guy.
Don't be sad it happened for a reason, made you more aware of what to do and who to look for, he is not for you at all friend or not, he did not accept you then don't accept and be with him.
It's ok! I accept you! xD

◆ Welp, then he is not your friend at all... True friends accept each other no matter what.
In my case, if they're my friends, I just try to tell them it's okay because it's their opinion but we have to accept each other no matter what we like or dislike, our preferences and personal likings, and of course, that if they will not accept me, tell them to please stop talking with me if they please. I do respect their opinions about me though, because I like to respect everyone, and in the end nobody thinks in the same way, may they be my friends, enemies or neither. That way, sometimes, things can be worked out ^_^ But not even that helps sometimes, that's when the other person just... Is not a good friend at all :(
As Fluffles said, in this case, many people overreact about their religions to the extent they don't even understand it well.

I had been discriminated for the same thing (not religion involved, though) even when I don't say I'm a furry myself, but I just let people decide if I am or not! People blinded by ignorance shall always exist, sadly.

The way that I deal with those kind of people, is by either: a. completely forgetting about them , destroying all memories of them  b.  Seek vengence for the rest of your life.

Sounds like a lot of work just for one single person. You're gonna meet a lot of them in a lifetime.
I say just accept and avoid.
