I usually attend both SakuraCon and NorWesCon over the Easter weekend. Sakura never really has much that interests me, so it is usually just an afternoon thing for me. I get a room, and spend all three days at NorWesCon, which has an avid Furry attendance, and has Furry pannels... not to mention a night life. Sakura closes at 7 or 8pm, where NorWesCon technically never closes with open room parties. While some parties (cough Biohazard) resemble drunken frat parties, there are many family friendly parties (Party in the Box) that offer hot food, as opposed to chips and dip, and non-alcoholic drinks. It is a fantastic way to meet new people.
