Operation Laysing

Setting: South Vietnam, Sept. 23rd, 1968
Operation Laysing was a covert MAC-V SOG operation conducted by SOG team 13 and allies. The basis of Laysing was for the team to create a covert camp near the Ho Chi Minh Trail to monitor NVA and VC movement in the area. This is the story of the almost ill-fated operation. Highly classified, burn after reading.

Kawaii sat looking out the window. "Looks like we're here"

[Mr.Mustard]

James sat in the heli, looking at the pictures in his wallet. He can't wait to get back to his family, but he sets the pictures aside and prepares his ensfield. It was time for action.

[Blaiiine]

"Alright, let's hook up!" Cyril stood up and hooked up to the helicopter bar and rappelled down to the jungle floor. He detached and readied his M-16 rifle, with extended mag equipped. Taking a look, he sighed and lifted himself up. "No VC...weird."

[Rhett (Twister)]

Kawaii sees that the coast is clear and rappels after Cyril."Is right here good for a camp?"

[Mr.Mustard]

James hooked himself to the wire, his Hawaiian shirt fluttering in the wind. "That is kinda weird... Usually we have to fight our way out..." This was only the second time he hadn't been shot at while in the open in all his hours in the jungle.

[Blaiiine]

"No good, can't see the trail..." Cyril replied, lighting a cigarette and looking up at the chopper. "We'll move into the jungle and see if we got a good position..." He walked along a cut-down trail, made by VC scouts possibly. "Oh yeah...James...it would be smart to get in your cammies..you stick out like a sore thumb.."

Kawaii tosses James a set of clothes. "Change into these."

[Blaiiine]

"Tiger cammies will conceal you a lot more than woodland..." Cyril walked off into the jungle, listening to the animals and birds.

[Mr.Mustard]

"Yeah, good point..." James shuffled into the fatigues. He always loved his Hawaiians, but safety was above practicality...

[Blaiiine]

"Okay guys...I found a good campsite...it's got a perfect view of the trail..." Cyril set his stuff down and took out some claymores. He set it up away from the site and near the VC trails he had found.

[Mr.Mustard]

James set up his bag. Tents are too easily seen from a distance, and mats were much easier to carry. He sat down, and began to whittle.

[Rhett (Twister)]

Sebastian slowly walks towards Cyril. "This seems a little open on the top." He sets up camp anyway, realizing that they would be more easy to spot anywhere else.

[Blaiiine]

"It's alright man...and Mustard....ever heard of a jungle leaf tent, man? It's good to use in these situations." Cyril began to work on the makeshift leaf tent, taking his vest off first.

Sebastian peers into the thick foilage. "Everybody down!" He whispered. "We have company."
