Well, I think that sparks + wood = fire is general knowledge, but that's just me. This is provided he asked Macid what to do and was able to deduce that from what he was doing.

especially since Macid's character wasn't even able to create an ember, let alone light anything. general knowledge is pretty much what rigor was thinking. Most people just know what they see on cartoons or tv shows, rub a few twigs, and you get fire.
