Within about half an hour, several men came in with what looked like cot frames, and then another few came in with soft mattresses. They didn't say anything to the group, but rather stayed quiet as they did everything, including placing the beds. Filadius' image had vanished since they had to remain silent, and the echo of voices and noise from the large wine barrels would attract unwanted attention. Another hour passed by before anyone else showed up. Moon was doing her best not to whimper the whole time, her stomach gurgling as she lay there, all sad. Finally, several women and the bear came in through the door. The women placed platters of half a pheasant, mashed potatoes, fried fish, and corn along with a single mug of water on a box near each person. The bear carried in an entire roasted pig and laid it next to Moon, petting her. He whispered in a very soft voice, "The soldiers just got back as we were coming down here, so be absolutely quiet, and absolutely no talking. If you're going to whisper, muffle it with your covers so that it doesn't echo too badly. We'll be coming down here often, since those bastards drink so much every time. If you are compromised, we won't take responsibility."
