so this RP is taking place in an apartment complex, you are just moving out of your parents place and cruisin the want Ads for a place to call your own. its in a small town..not a huge city area but there are plenty of places around to keep it bustling. you gotta get a job or already have one. and you dont know who your roomy is..but the antics are neverending as you get to know one another and experience LIFE as big and all grown up furs.  there are parties, trips to be made and just hilarious drama. i have two rooms open and im lookin for a roomate(s) to call me, but obviously there are MANY rooms in this building.  talk to the landlord and see if he has a opening???

the rules are as follows:

this is just like real life..to live in the "big bad world" you need to do things that anyone else would do to make by. you need to have some sort of income, and hopefuly some transportation.

this is taking place in modern times..so try to keep your actions and character within that timeframe...so you cant be like a mercenary for hire or some kinda beast slayer.

since we are living together..be as detailed as possible when your at home, after all thats where the fun is at! be social, it really enhances the RP

im writing this RP in first person. so when talking please speak as such
example.

"i get out of the shower and squeeze the water from my tail. its terribly matted, but thats nothing a little toweling and blow drying couldnt fluff back up. with my bathroom buisness done i walk out with a towel around my waist and venture back to my bedroom to fetch some clothes"

so to join, simply follow the lead of the RP im providing below. and be quick, there are only 2 spaces..!


*Sigh*...so that was that..i finnaly spoke to my landlord about where all our rent money had gone. as it turned out my roomate had been screwing me out of rent by taking it and spending it on her shopping addiction and id been being landed with all the landlords bills and orders to appear in court. i had kicked her out finnaly and got my money that was due out of her and payed off this months bills...though if i wasnt going to get kicked out myself i had better find a roomate to share the rent with and FAST. i swish my tail frusteratedly and walk over to the computer to type out a Ad for a roomeate...a spacious three bedroom apartmnet with full kitchen and utilities... water would be included and two bathrooms. the rent was $1,600 a month and would be split evenly. though id need two roomates now. the only reason we could together afford this place was because she had two jobs that payed realy well. (and daddy sent her mony from time to time in large sums)
i finished typing out the slip of paper and walked over to the door and grab up my keys..it wasnt a far drive down to the local gorcery store..

..i walk in the store and go up to the public bulliten board, there was a nice big open space to the left and i peg my paper up on it. it has all my contact info and necissary information..i can only hope someone calls my number soon, rent is due in 30 days
so thats that...all there is left to do is wait for someone to call. i walk back out of the store and to my car. i turn it on and drive back home where i was to start on cooking dinner.

[Pea]

*The time is late. The sun hasn't fallen behind the horizon yet, but rain clouds block out what light it still provides. Street lights and store front displays shine off the wet sidewalk Lizard finds himself walking down.

'Just my luck,' Lizard thinks, 'To be caught out in the rain.' He had recently moved to the city in search of work. The word "moved" here is used loosely. There was an opening at some Pizzeria and he jumped on that chance. Of course he acted a little too fast and never found a place to stay.

Lizard walked down the streets with no destination in mind. The rain was starting to pick up so he figured it was about time to find something with which to stand under. Eventually he found a building that had some sort of umbrella overhang on its front. He stood under that and placed his backpack down on the ground next to himself. Lizard stood there for a while just watching the rain pour. The street was bright with reflected light, and the reflections were blurred by rain disturbing the wet ground.

Lizard soon grew bored of standing there staring at the downpour and tried finding something else to distract him. He looked around and found a notice board on the wall next to him. 'That's more like it!' he thought, 'Something to read.'

He began skimming over the notices, trying to find something long and interesting to lose himself in. Something soon caught his eye. It was an advertisement for a roommate on an apartment! This is just what he needed, so he took some paper and a pencil from his backpack and wrote down the available contact info.

His next problem was trying to find a phone. Everywhere he looked places seemed to be closing, and the rain wasn't getting any lighter. He eventually found a pay phone and asked a passing stranger if they could spare some change. With change put into the phone he dialed the contact number and heard it begin to ring...*


This part of the post is Out Of Character. Just wanted to say great idea and great new format! And I also wanted to ask how we carry out character conversations on the forums so I know how to play out this next part.

just follow my lead

Kaprika walks into the apartment and locks the door behind her. it was a good neighborhood but her paranoia dictated her to lock doors behind her.
no sooner than she hangs her key on the key rack on the wall her cellphone in her belt holster starts ringing with the little numa numa ditty. fumbling with the clasp she takes it out and answers the call...

"uh, yes hello..?"
she waiting eagerly to hear the voice of her caller..was she going to get a response to her add that fast??

[Pea]

I hear the phone click and a voice sound. She sounds like a nice enough woman.

"Umm, yeah hi. My name is Chris Lively and I just found your ad."

The rain starts to pour harder and it forces me to move further under the booth.

"I thought I'd call to discuss it..."

[Kaprika]

Kaprika grins, well hot dang it WAS a Ad caller!

"uh, yes. hello Chris, sure we can talk about my availability..though i think its kinda late and....is it raining where your at?"
she thinks to herself how miserable it was outside
"listen...why dont you actualy come over here right now and we can discuss and ill give you a tour of the place..does that sound ok?"

[Pea]

"It's only sprinklin' a little bit," which was a complete exaggeration of the fact. "and yeah, I'd love to talk about this on a tour!"

I was getting excited. The possibility of actually having a place to stay was almost more good news than I could take. My next words start off sounding a bit choked up, like I'm crying. Which I am, but it's out of happiness. I take control of myself quick.

"I-I, umm..." *Sniffles* "T-thank you so much. I'll grab a bus and be right there." In my excitement I start to put the phone down, disregarding the fact that this may be rude to do without a goodbye or acknowledgement. However, I stop myself as soon as I realize that fact, and that I have no idea where I am going. I pull the phone back up to my face.

"Miss, I don't think I know where to go. And I never caught your name..."

[Kaprika]

i slap my palm to my face..i tottaly forgot to write my adress on the Ad...how brilliant of me.
"i am so sorry, my name is Kaprika..and the adress is 246 Galivant rd. its the blue building...room 347. ill see you then?"

im absent midedly pacing back and forth infront of the door..

[Pea]

"Okay, thanks Kaprika. I'm gonna check where that is real quick. One sec." I pin the phone between my neck and shoulder, then reach in an outside pocket of my backpack for a map. It's soaked with rain and delicate to open, but I manage to get it unfolded without too much tearing.

"So it'ssss... there! Oh hey, that's in walking distance. Could be there in about 15 minutes. Thanks again Kaprika, I'll be right there..."

[Kaprika]

"thats fantastic, ill see you then. and take care, its raining buckets out there"

i hang up the phone and silently fist pump in the air...this was GREAT
but wait...the apartment was a huge mess, if i was gonna get a roomeate i needed a clean and tidy ship. so in a flash of blue fur i blaze around the apartment tossing out pizza boxes and loose paper from my work area.
i usualy kept the place fairly clean but with my financial stress it wasnt really the priority on my mind...it would have to do for now, i didnt want to answer the door panting like i had....uh...

so with everything in order, there was nothing left to do but wait for that someone to answer the door...

[Pea]

With the conversation over I hang up the phone and turn around. After looking wearily up at the sky from under the booth, I start walking down the sidewalk. The rain has let up a bit, but my clothes are still getting soaked. Already the jacket I am wearing is getting colder, losing its ability to hold heat.

I tried jogging there, but it was hard with my clothes being weighed down by water. Eventually though I can see the big blue apartment complex and I run inside.

'Geez,' I thought, 'I must look terrible!' I throw off my backpack and jacket, then pull the shoes from my feet. After picking them all up I start up the stairs, making sloshing noises as my drenched socks flop around with every step. I soon find myself standing in front of room 347.

'Here goes...' and I ring the doorbell.

[Kaprika]

i jump in my seat as the ring of the doorbel pervades the air
i hope to my paws and race to the door brushing my fur down...best to make a good first impression.
i open the door to a very...very soggy lizard standing at the door and i had to say....my fur looked JUST fine.

"hey uh...welcome? come in come in, go ahead and stand in the kitchen so you dont soak the rug and ill get you a towel or something"

i shut the door behind the guest and rush off to see about obtaining a fresh clean towel.

[Pea]

The door opens and there stands Kaprika. She has a look surprise or relievef, I can't tell. Maybe I'm reading her expression wrong.  'What must she think of me in this state...' She greets me and I walk inside, moving quickly to the kitchen.

"Sorry for... you know... being such a mess. I haven't had a place to stay for a few days." My clothes are definitely not as dirty as they had been before, but now they drip with water and stick to my scales. I stand in the kitchen, a puddle forming where me and my stuff were, and wait for Kaprika to return.

I stare at the ad in my paws for a while, a bit unsure. It seems too good to be true that I would happen upon this. I am in the phone booth, hesitant to call her, but perhaps I should. After all, I don't have anywhere to stay. I got a good job as a waiter at a fancy restaraunt, but i'd rather pursue my dream of becoming a stand-up comic.
I pick up the phone, insert the quarter and dial the number.
'please pick up pleaaaase pick up!' I whisper, crossing my fingers and hoping for an answer

i floped down just inside the doorway of a large blue apartment building. "man i hate this damn cold weather. i wonder if this place has any spare rooms?" i got up and walked around, looking for a landlord. finding the managers door i knocked a bit louder than i wanted to and nurvously waited for a reply.

[Kaprika]

my paw lands on a nice big beach towel and i smile...perfect
im about ready to walk back when i hear my cellphone ringing and im caught offguard..now what?

i walk down the hall and i hand my new guest the towel. "hang on a second, im really sorry" i smile briefly at him and pull my phone back out to answer..
.."hello..?"
