Actually getting really frustrated by my current pieces. There's no consistent style, each piece looks different. In some ways, that's good, but that also means that I don't have a style people see and instantly think "KITE!" There are a few bits about my art that are a bit recognisable, but not to the extent that I'm looking for. So, I spent today drawing away and figuring out how I'm going to do each body part etc. and try and get a more coherent style. Hopefully, this will stick. Also need to do a few more studies after this, all anatomy based, to make sure it's what I'm after.

I respectfully disagree. :P

I think your art is quite recognizable. I mean, I've definitely been able to tell that you've been testing the waters with some different techniques, but overall I can still tell you were the one to make it. As the artist, it can be really difficult to see that yourself. I always feel the same way about my own art. Try not to let it worry you too much, and be careful not to shove yourself in a box (so to speak) because you're too concerned about changing things up too much. Consistency will always come with time and practice, and in the meantime it can be very helpful just to play around and see how things turn out.

You've gone through a lot of improvement, and there is still more to come. Over time you'll figure out what sort of things do or don't work for you. In the end, all of that knowledge and experience is what will naturally result in what becomes your style.

Now for the hard part - doing them again! :D

Been doing another drawing today! This time, instead of something new, I've been reviving something old. Just a few days short of 3 years ago, I started a digital painting that took me about a week, I posted it just a few hours before New Years. Recently, I've been meaning to go back to it. In the past 2 hours or so, I've done just that. That jump means quite a lot to me actually, I've gone from a fairly basic drawing taking me a week to doing it with far better colours, composition and detail in just 2 hours! http://darksword512.deviantart.com/art/Tails-In-The-Sunset-344980999

to me its the muzzle and body shape since its simpleness made it cute. I think when you do more realistic art by keeping those two rules above^ im sure people will recongnise it.

So I was looking on youtube on how to make fursuit paws (I might wanna try making a pair for myself) and I seen this guy in the comments using a really old drawing of mine.
It just made my day :D

Finally, the forums are back! Now to post my new stuff :3

First off though, I'm looking to do art trades and collabs with other artists, so if you're interested, lemme know through whatever means of contact x3

First up, I was messing about with tools in Paint Tool SAI and managed to create two tools that create a rather convincing look of an ink painting.

Two pages of sketches! Done while my tablet pen was broken. Still is, waiting on a replacement, borrowed a friend's for now.

And finally, a little drawing I did in my midtone sketchbook. Done using black and white charcoal pencils. Also changed Kit'es hair a little bit, the spikes on the back are a little awkward to draw.

Once I get round to it, I'll post stuff to dropbox or photobucket or something. PB would probably be better, I move stuff around a lot in Dropbox and may need to empty it out soon to be fair.

Also, good news!

Gran: so how much is this pen tablet you need?
Me: err, £30.
Gran: That's cheap, you can get better!
Me: No, that's the one I need, the more expensive ones don't work with my tablet.
Gran: Well why don't you get a more expensive one then?
Me: Because they're expensive.
Gran: Don't worry about the cost, I'll pay for it.
Me: Um.. Are you sure? Cuz the other ones can go to like £200-300 and the proper proper industry ones go somewhere between £700 to £2k.
Gran: Get the £700 one then, I'll pay for it.
Me: Are... Are you sure?
Gran: Yeah! I want you to have the best.
Me: O..Ok. Thank you!

So just like that, I'm getting a Cintiq!
