Windows has a function called EWF (Enhanced Write Filter) which will put all file mutations on a ramdisk. So you don't really run windows from the ramdisk but rather put all new and modified files on the ramdisk. When you reboot the system the ramdisk is lost and the system is rebooted as it was when it was locked by EWF

Linux can be compressed into an image, which is unpacked after the bootloader and loaded onto a ramdisk. This way you can actually boot into linux from a live cd or flsh drive without installing. It also prevents the system from writing back to the boot media, which is ideal for things like CF cards with a limited amount of write cycles. It also helps if your boot media has a low bandwidth.

I am wondering if you can mimick a linux frugal boot, unpacking a snapshot of a windows system onto a ramdisk.

Same thing as relocating cache files to the Ramdisk, yes of course. But it's not really something I'd want to hassle with everytime I turn on the computer.

Cooling is all stock cooling. Average Temp on idel is 30*C   52*C running a game or two.   61*C  under full load
Issue is, its loud.

Buddywolf, if you are a true gamer, you need a 128GB SSD, a Logitech G9X Mouse (can change the weight of it), and replace the 16GB of DDR3 RAM with some simple 6~8GB GDDR5 RAM. And if you got the money, get the nVIDIA Titan, it is the most powerful graphic card on this planet.

*Cough cough* The Titan is just a rehashed GTX 690 with failed CUDA Cores that are locked and a lower core-clock. Nvidia even acknowledged that the Titan is not as powerful as the GTX 690 when it comes to performance. The only difference is the temperature and and power requirements.

TL:DR; GTX 690 > GTX Titan based on actual performance testing.

To be fair, these days you're a true gamer with a GTX 560 considering no game has enough graphical power to not run well enough on it on Max ;3

Lol, I don't think you can get a GDDR5 motherboard yet, or the actual RAM, at a shop. And games aren't about having the best graphics anyway, if you can run something on low, you'll still enjoy it if it's a good game.


Oh, yeah GTX690 = 2 underclocked 680s on a single card card. That means the max you can run is 2 690s in SLI, which is reaching the 4 GPU limit of SLI.
A GTX Titan, though, is a single GPU card. 4 Titans beats 2 690s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A Titan contains the most powerful GPU you can buy at the moment, just WWAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY overpriced.

Also, GTX560 won't run Crysis 3 on max, and it'll be pushing it for BF3 even.

I don't ever have the bother to check? Just based on what I see I'd say anywhere between 50 and 60. Considering I've already got it OC'd past the stock clock of most of the 600 series, but still only at a "perfectly stable" setting with more room to get higher.

It runs smoothly, hardly ever have any hiccups, and it looks great. 1920x1080, max settings.

Trust me when I say that being a hardware enthusiast for all my life has it's perks when it comes to getting the most out of my machine, even if I'm not spending $400+ on something like a graphics card ;D
