In films when two characters of the same sex have a meaningful friendship, people think they are gay or in a relationship sexually? Like, really, I wish I had a dollar for every time someone said Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr (Professor X and Magneto) were gay because of the new movie that came out today. It kind of pisses me off, especially when said characters aren't portrayed that way (or meant to be, for that matter) all because Magneto said that Xavier made an adorable lab rat (which was obviously sarcasm) or because the two cared for each others' well being as friends. It's as if good friendships automatically translate as sex these days, and it's kind of annoying as hell. /pointless rant
This isn't me complaining about gay pairings or gay people, but, I dunno. I guess I'm getting pissed because I love those two and their friendship very much, along with other characters of the same nature, and when people are like LOLGAY or something similar, it ruins the magic and they can't appreciate their relationship how the creator's intended. I mean, it's understandable in things where a character's orientation is implied or left open, but, it's not.
I don't know. Discuss cannon vs. non-cannon, what you prefer, or if there are specific pairings that bother you, ect.
