I need to get a really heavy duty collar... just thinking out loud

There's a lot of them to choose from

Just got my first collar today. I was by a Petsmart and though "Eh, why not?" I stopped in, walked to the collar section and picked out a brown leather collar. The edges are a bit sharp, but I suppose with use, and a good shining, they'll wear down.

I don't wear it as a sign of submission, or domestication.  I wear it mostly to mark myself as a furry, and I think it looks pretty good, kinda fashionable.
My parents haven't seen it yet but I don't think they'd care, but they'll probably question it. I might just tell them the truth, so I can go about wearing my tail, ears, and collar freely.

If the sharp parts are ever really bothering you, you can cover it up with tape. Fabric tape, hockey tape, etc. And congrats  :3

Eh, as I suspected, after a few days of wear the edges wore down - they never really bothered me anyways. I guess for $7 you get what you pay for. I should pick up some leather polish - It'd make the edges rounder, and the leather shine nicely. I also found some leather string to tie the "WAR" pendant onto the D-Ring on my collar. I think it looks really nice.

Mine are leather and don't bother me in general, look for softer collars that have padding.

Whooo, this seems cool!

I don't have a collar yet, but I remember me and my good buddy who is also a huge furry were looking at ones on Amazon longingly. He wanted one for a cat, as his fursona is a lion-type thing, but we couldn't find one as he is a big man and cats are tiny. At the time, we didn't really have the money to buy them. But he's going to be visiting me soon, and I figure that'll be the PERFECT way to get a collar. Just going to a Petmart or Wal-Mart or something. (I also need to pick up an actual collar for an actual pet there too, so it'll be good for that as well.)

When I get one though, I'm probably going to be super happy just to wear it. Though I doubt I'll wear it around my family... it'd likely attract their attention. Even me wearing normal clothes gets criticism out of them. Random people though? Sure, why not? I don't mind. Most of them will probably be too timid to even say anything about it anyway. The reason I'll be buying one for myself is because dogs are domesticated animals, and well, collars are highly associated with them. To me, getting a collar is a great way to feel like an animal without attracting TOO much attention in public like ears, a tail, or a fursuit would. (Not that I don't want those either. I SO do.)

Thanks for the guide though, that was nice. :3 And a good reminder to get one!

My first actual color was pink and black striped, and it was for a cat (I had to add a small chain to the back) that I bought from the Park and Shop; it had it's own bell, but I attached a pink bunny bell I got from anime club for sentimental value, everytime it rang I thought of that old club.  I live in a really small town, so for the first month or so, people made a big deal about it (especially since I'm known for wearing cat ears).  They stopped when they realized that I wear much stranger things and that their teasing doesn't faze me.

Collars and bondage
« Reply #507 on: August 09, 2013, 05:03:42 PM »
Hai! ^_^ So, I've been wanting to get a collar for a while... but there's something that's holding me back >.> I think that people with sexualize it and connect it to bondage and such T_T Now, I'm not gonna wear a sign around my neck that says "I AM NOT INTO BONDAGE." xD So, what should I do? Does anyone have any thoughts/experiences on this topic? :?
