Lordi anyone?
« on: May 03, 2007, 04:03:47 AM »
So anyone here a fan of Lordi?

I've liked them for maybe a few weeks, but they're amazing. Especially the costumes.

My favourite's Ox's costume. Anyone else?  :upupdi3:

i was proud of them at eurovision... but they aren't the best monster rock out there... i reccommend gwar to you!

but they are alright, and they have got rather funky costumes

I do listen to GWAR.. They're alright, but the "Meat Sandwich" video scared me a little bit.

Yeah, I guess this was like the first year Finland had won at Eurovision?

I'm going to see them this year at Ozzfest, and I'm rather excited. ^.^ My boyfriend really wants to see them but he can't because the nearest Ozzfest for him is 14 hours away.  :th_PyongLlora:

Does anyone think they ripped off of GWAR? Me and another friend got into a fight about that because he says they're just another band trying to be GWAR.

they're very similar.... on an obviously higher budget.... and lordi openly take influence from that type of "shock rock" of the 80's and early 90's. but they do have the added bonus of not being allowed into the finnish royal palacy place.... well thats what my crazy aunt from finland told me.... because they won eurovision and weren't allowed into the palace because he had to take his mask off.

Yes, I heard something like that. Lordi really want to stick to that monster image, so they do refuse to take off their masks, costumes, etc. for anything. I mean, if you watch their interviews, do you ever see them without their "costumes"? I remember one certain magazine thought they had finally caught Lordi without their costumes, and they posted the image to find out that it wasn't Lordi, but in fact Children of Bodom!

But yeah, GWAR and Lordi are very similar, but the fact that Tomi(Mr. Lordi) got his influence from KISS sort of drops that "rip off" idea. And I think both GWAR and Lordi were around at about the same time, right?

As you already know, I do.

I honestly do not understand why people bitch about them ripping off Gwar. But if it's the way they dress, then I suppose..

Dimmu Borgir fans.

Should bitch about Cradle of Filth, since they both wear black and have make up on their faces.

Then again, I guess every single death metal/black metal band that dresses like that ((There are many.)) should bitch about each other because they were 'copied' by one another.

The fact is, just because they dress up like 'monsters' it doesn't mean they copied anyone. Who says they even heard about Gwar in 95 when their band formed?

Well according to Tomi Putaansuu, they hadn't.

don't know when lordi started but GWAR began around 1981. and i'm not saying they're a "rip off" although i realise thats what i sound like, but i just think that its seems to be a big influence.
