i love miles davis. his music changed my life... but this... this period of his is just a terrible terrible mistake. but what gets me even more is just how much people love it. just look at those awful clothes... the leather trousers, stupid glasses, bright red trumpet... yughh. then you have the music; terrible wallpaper funk grooves, trashy keyboard sounds, out of tune trumpet...

oh yeah... and i hate michael jackson. so it's all there!

I'm curious where the line is drawn between metal and anything else.  The speed, types of vocals, relative "heaviness", the tone of the guitars?  Have you ever accidentally disliked hard rock or hardcore punk, thinking it was metal?

I haven't yet found a group that I thought wasn't too raucous and had vocals I liked in the genre. I've disliked a lot of hard rock, too, but it's not all across the board. Granted, I stopped trying after about two dozen, so... ;)

To be fair, I liked symphonic metal when I was 15-16.
