Queen Tizzarath breathed a laugh at Talin's excitement, though she shook her head at his question.
"No, I can't give you your sword. Your possessions don't belong to you anymore. I'll give you some food but that's all I can do. Fang will stay with me." She stepped back and looked from one cell to the other. "Now get some sleep, you leave at dawn." She turned to Dim Lane, beckoned for him to follow and then down the corridor.
The sun had long since dropped and the moon shone in its place as Aman and Entaru entered the town. A few fires were still lighting houses, and the drunken cheers of men spewed from the tavern windows. Toward the centre of town was the Dome of the Dark, built upon a large crater where the shard sat at its centre. It served as a scientific facility, but more recently as governmental office and home to the higher authorities. The two foxes stepped inside, past its walls of wood, and walked through the corridors to their bedrooms, one beside the other. Aman pulled Entaru into a tight hug.
"Sleep well Entaru. You'll need your energy tomorrow," he said and kissed his forehead before he moved away into his own bedroom.
Little-Hands scrutinized the general's face, with her hand placed on her forehead.
"Seeker is like your hyena, but good. She takes care of us." She gave a glance at Leo and took the plates with a nod. "Thank you." As she spoke, Saviour returned with wood, dry grass and rocks stuffed in his mouth. He spat them all out on the ground by her feet. "Your friend will be asleep for long. She wake in the morning. You can sleep too. Saviour keep watch." She gathered the wood and grass into a pile and hit the rocks together. The fire was instant, with no work required, bursting into a large flame. "See?" she said. "Seeker takes care of us. Sleep now."
On the city walls, the guards looked down across the field. Flame torches lit the ground close by but the rest was near total darkness. The three wearing common clothes were almost invisible.
