I dont think DRagons are Reptiles, But more like big horned scaled cats with wings.
I know I'm not related to cats at all!
Since dragons are technically mythological creatures, it's hard to say whether they fall under a certain species of animal. If they would be cats, they would be classified as mammals. Mammals don't do eggs.
That is, we're talking about the stereotypical old-school dragons (such as Western dragons). These could be more classified as reptiles.
To classify species (such as a Western Dragon), you would have to follow classification guidelines.
I could also say, since Western Dragons have scales, they possibly shed. They lay eggs, shed, and all kinds of other features which could make them fall under the lizard+snake family.
Interesting article here:
https://www.learner.org/courses/essential/life/session6/closer1.htmlOf course, dragons (e.g. Western Dragons) could and probably should have their own classification family, but there are various reptiles out there with other cool traits. Think of the gliding reptile. Basically a winged reptile. Or the frilled reptile, or the Thorny Devil, a creature that can shoot blood from its eyes to scare off predators.
I mean, these are basically already living dragons
Sorry, I just wanted to say I think dragons would moreso fall under reptiles than felines
But if we're talking about not Western or Eastern dragons, but Fantasy dragons (it's an odd name for a group, considering dragons are fantasy, but roll with me here) then you could have an infinite amount of classification possibilities.
