It shouldn't be that hard to understand what's considered small-talk or on-topic discussion.
On-topic discussion:
"Hello, I'm a wolf. Where are the other wolves at?"
"I'm a wolf, too! *howls*"
"Hey guys, did you know that wolves do X?"
"Can I have some advice on my fursona?"
"Hey, I saw a wolf while camping last weekend, here's some pictures."
Off-topic discussion/roleplaying:
"Hi, how are you, I just came home from school"
"Whee, I'm having pizza!"
"*strikes [name] with a sword and makes pet dragon eat him* LEAVE MY MATE ALONE HES MINE"
"I'm listening to some sweet EDM right now"
The only requirement is sticking to the discussion of wolves and wolf fursonas. Sure, it's natural to go on a tangent in a couple posts once in a while depending on the subject, but it shouldn't be an extended occurrence.
See the Bears thread for a decent idea of what I'm talking about.

And with that said, please stay on-topic.
