A dictators scapegoat
« on: August 09, 2011, 08:19:30 PM »

it was the crack of dawn and just beyond the horizon helicopter crews were getting ready for the attack. The war was entering it's tenth year and it was only getting worse for the vulpine species. A decade ago an army led by the merciless dictator General Dimitri helped start a huge civil war in a newly made country. It all happened during the night when his army of wild cats and wolves stormed the countryside where the vulpine species resided. They didn't bother anyone, they were self-sufficient; kids played in the streets, vendors sold goods to the people. That all changed when THEY came; Dimitri's army stormed the countryside breaking into homes, killing innocent men, women, and children.

But one fox had a vendetta for the General and his followers. Lucius came home one day from hiding in a friends home and found his son and wife dead. They were both next to each other shot in the head execution style. After grieving the loss he had them buried in the backyard with marked graves. He managed to organize an uprising against the empire. He and 3,000 men and women attacked an outpost. Out of the 3,000 that went into the attack, only 200 soldiers came back. But it was the start of something much larger.

General Lucius was getting into a helicopter machine gun position. He might have been a general but he wasn't going to sit on the sidelines, he wanted to be apart of this war and get what he wanted, dictator Dimitri overthrown and he didn't care who got in his way.

"General, you ready?" asked the pilot.

   "yes, everyone aboard?" Lucius asked

   "affirmative." Replied the pilot.

"alright, lets do this." Lucius said as the pilot started up the chopper.

Once everyone was in the air and heading to the target, a prison camp that was deemed vital to the rebellion. Lucius turned on his microphone and he called out to the other choppers in the air.

"this is call sign osprey 1 checking in, report." he made the call.

   "Osprey 2 standing by."

   "Osprey 3 standing by."

   "Osprey 4 standing by."

   "Osprey 5 standing by."

"Osprey 6 standing by with the guns." Osprey six was the attack chopper. This one was smaller then the other helicopters having 2 miniguns on the wings along with 8 all purpose rockets.

"Alright soldiers, our target is a prison camp. If we take it it will provide a window to the capital city. Make sure you only take out soldiers, they're will be civilians." he said over the closed circuit radio.

Lucius's rebels managed to get their hands on some helicopters and light bombers. They were considered outdated because the imperial military had more powerful planes, helicopters, and were more well trained. The helicopters they possessed had one wing on the right side and it held 4 anti air rockets, 1 anti-tank missile, and a mini gun with 4000 rounds. In the left side of the helicopter it had a mounted machine gun with 2000 rounds. In the back of the helicopter it could carry 10 soldiers.

On the ground there were light transport vehicles held more soldiers. They had tank tracks on them so they could move through the forest easier. Soon the prison camp came over the horizon. The camp was surrounded by high fences with barbed wire on the top; on the corners had guard towers. In the back Lucius could see a recently dug up mass grave. No bodies yet but it was ready.

One of the guards posted on the guard tower could hear helicopter blades in the distance. Swiveling his ears towards the sound he turned and just over the horizon he saw small transport helicopters approaching. They didn't look like Imperial helicopters. He ran over to the alarm and slammed on the button triggering the alarm.

"They know were coming boys, fire when ready!" Lucius called out over the radio.

The helicopter got closer and closer until they were right next to the prison camp. They were going to drop the soldiers off and they were going to provide support for the boys on the ground. Osprey 6 moved ahead of the rest of the group and spun up its duel miniguns.

"Guns guns guns." Osprey six called over the radio.

In a flash Osprey six unleashed all hell upon placed targets. Lighting them up with minigun fire. On the ground many imperial soldiers were shot up and were torn to shreds. Once Osprey 6 went flying over the prison camp Lucius's helicopter turned so that the mounted machine gun he was positioned on was facing the camp.

"you're going to fast rope down!" he yelled out as 2 of the soldiers in the helicopter opened the left right side door and threw out two ropes.

"READY! GO GO GO!" Lucius ordered ordered.

Lucius's men in his helicopters and the soldiers in helicopter 2 through 5 fast roped down to the ground to meet up with ground troops. It took a few minutes but once everyone was on the ground the ropes were winched back up and Lucius shut the door.

"Alright people, we're going to provide covering fire!" he called out over the radio.

Almost immediately after imperial soldiers opened fire upon the helicopters. Lucius and the other gunners fired back on them, sending them running for cover. Down on the ground the transports came to the fencing and they tediously started to cut the links. This attracted imperial fire upon them.

"Osprey 1, we need covering fire!" a female voice echoed over the radio.

   "Acknowledged." the pilot replied.

Lucius's helicopter moved to the soldiers position and hovered 40 feet above them. Spinning up the minigun and let loose with it. The helicopter did a slow swivel to the right, firing down a line and killing all of the imperial soldiers that were giving the ground troops trying to get in a problem.

"Thanks Osprey 1, we're in." The sargeant that called for support said over the radio.

Finally they managed to cut through the fence and the worked their way in, a few soldiers were gunned down but most of them managed to get through. The ground troops made their way through the camp while overhead the helicopters provided covering fire. Osprey 6 flew overhead using its 8 missiles to take out the guard towers, and the men inside of them.

The foot soldiers made it to the cell blocks, destroying the doors and making a sweep through them. They met up with light resistance but it was straight forward. Once all of the rooms were secure the infantry got everyone out of the building and out of the camp to a secure landing zone.

"Stop them, don't let them get away!" cried a wildcat.

The remaining wolves and wildcats weren't going to let the prisoners escape. Following them into the forest shooting at them, the prisoners and their liberators weren't going to make it to the LZ. Out of the blue Lucius's helicopter appeared over the LZ, having the prisoners escape underneath the helicopter. Inside the helicopter Lucius grinned to himself as the helicopter turned so that the mounted gun faced the oncoming imperials.

"DIE YOU PIGS!" he screamed as he opened fire with the gun. Making a sweeping motion with the turret caused bullets to make a blade that cut through everyone that in its path. All of the following imperials fell to the ground dead.

Osprey one landed on the ground, Lucius got off his gun and he opened the right side door. He motioned the prisoners into the cabin. 10 men, women, and kits got into the helicopters as more started to arrive. Lucius closed the door and the helicopter took off but was replaced by another helicopter. Ground transports were taking prisoners as well because the helicopters were starting to get full.

"alright boys let's get the wounded out of here, osprey 6 has it under control and some ground forces will remain in the prison camp until it is scrubbed clean of imperials." Lucius said over the radio as the helicopters flew back to basecamp. Lucius got off the turret as his helicopter flew back; looking over the people in the cockpit, their faces bright because they have been liberated. One of the children came up to the general and hugged him.

"thank you mister." he said looking up at him.

"you're...welcome little one." he said his mother shedding tears of joy as she saw her liberator hug her son back and sent him back to his mother.

Little did Lucius know that from that moment on, someone had fallen in love with him again, and in the worst possible time...

Thats the first chapter of my story, what does everyone think?
