No one knows about it. It's kind of sad, I treat it like something I absolutely HAVE to hide. All history gets erased, texts related to it get deleted the second I reply. I know it shouldn't be that way, but it's a rough thing to explain. If I was ever asked directly, I might say yes. But until that day I'm not going out of my way to flaunt my furry side.

Let's compare it to being gay. Coming out to your parents/friends/whatever as gay is tough. But to me it would be easier than coming out as furry, because there's some legit knowledge in the media and everywhere that honestly and accurately define what gay is. Unless you've been browsing the net for a while you probably don't know what a furry is, and even if you do it's probably some completely off definition. I'd rather be a closet fur than have to spend the time and energy required to come out as furry, and then perhaps explain what a furry is and ward off all the rumors.

both have it's misconceptions but being gay is very different from furries when you look at it, being ygay is your sexual orientation, while being a furry is just a hobby.

I understand it's a hobby to some, but others, including myself, see it as a lifestyle and not just something you can flick a switch to turn off. It's a part of who we are, not just something we do in our spare time. Therefore it tends to hurt more when we get rejected or shunned for something that's a part of us, an attraction to something that we can't change. And that's why I compared the two, because for some of us it can feel almost as daunting as coming out as gay.

Only my closest friends know about it, and I'm talking like, 3 people. I tend to keep everything entirely separate, because I know that some of my friends are furry-haters.

Generally, I don't hide it, but I don't go running around advertising it. If they ask, I'll explain it, but I mean, it's nothing that I'm ashamed of or afraid to share. So. I clicked "everyone" because they do know I draw anthros, it's do they know what a furry is and such.

Only three people (Excluding the forums, Of course)
One of them is my closest bud who I KNOW doesn't care that I'm a fur.
The second is my other closest bud...
The third is a guy who works at Hot Topic and is openly furry... I'm actually gonna see if he can get on the forums.

One or two close friends, my stepmom, my bf, who is also a furry. Obviously all of my furry friends. Otherwise it isn't really obvious because I can't afford tails or suits or ears.....since I'd be wearing them all the time proudly if I could.

More people are going to know. I have intent to tell people I am a scalie this year, hopefully. My school shows a lot of acceptance that I don't see elsewhere, especially if I tell them what it is before I say I am such.

Most people around here don't even know what a "furry" is, so it's hard to try and explain v.v

I wouldn't think it'd be my job to be a prophet of sorts=p. Believe me, the people around here are the kind to resort to Google and UD to figure out what things are.
