Eh, as far as I see it, people don't really mind furries, its just that they don't know much about them, if anything.
Some people think we're weird, or crazy and some don't really have a problem with it at all. Its just who you meet.

But IF it became mainstream, then it would be kinda a win/lose situation, because yea, we'd have MANY more people bashing us, and belittling us, but there would be much more knowledge about us and after awhile, most of the stereotyping would die down, and we could be considered as "normal".

That, and more furs would be bound to show up. Some of them would be for real, and others would be posers, but who can stop someone from being fake? :P

If it was mainstream or considered "normal" I think that it would be pretty much like being gay in these days. LOTS of people hate it and think its disgusting, but also its becoming widely accepted, as people open their minds to it.

Would you personally still be "into" it if it were mainstream? I know some of my friend only like people before they're famous like bands and stuff "oh I listened to them before anyone knew about them but now they're all mainstream so they suck"

Do you think we'd see a decline in TRUE furry fandom if a bunch of little hollywood tweens got into it because it was "cool"?

this will happen when we become as accepting as Anime/Manga. If it get's to that, everyone would know Furries as much as Anime/Manga. Most people either like it or don't care. I kinda don't care about Anime, watch it here and there.

Here's the thing about Anime Fandom, it's practically backed by an entire country (Japan) and the Japanese. So not many bash Anime.

Here's the thing about Furry Fandom, it's not backed by any country, instead we are backed with animals. And many think it's stupid. SO many bash Furries, on the Internet.

Either way, it has gotten a lot better than 10 years ago. Maybe 10 years later, it would be close to the popularity of Anime Fandom.

i kinda hope it doesn't. i like my secluded drinks with fellow furries in bars late at night. when that number of furries gets one or two zeros on the end it kinda ruins it
The further on I go, all the less i know.

i could imagine all the true furries turning into hipster furs

then civil war would break out between new furs and old furs

then people loses interest and everyone turns into a bronie...

the end

well i guess we would have to class ourselves as extreme furries or as furry veterans (fur before the mainstream audience)

This is what I was thinking. And I think that eventually, like homosexuality, it'll become acceptable by society to be a furry. Although, if being a furry was mainstream, it'd be kind of boring to me because then there'd be fake furs and people being furries just for attention, and that would get annoying (As if trolls weren't bad enough XD).

Outside on a winter's night as the rain begins to fall
There's a chill in the air and the howl of a wolf while the rain beats at the door
Seven kings will ride on the wind up towards        the mountains high
And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

I wouldn't like it if it did. i like it how it is now, but if it did i would still be part of the fandom and allthough i would be an organal. if it did become main stream there would be to many people that just join for the hell of it like the anime fandom, people would know more about it but then it would lose its mystery, some of you know how much where trolled now, imagine if we become main stream.

I think alot of people become furries simply because of the fact that we are so different than the rest of the world. That's why you see so many furs that have traits that may be better known but still wouldn't be accepted in alot of places - for example alot of us have some kind of disability, and alot of us have much broader sexual preferences than the rest of the world would find acceptable. We are much more open-minded than the average person, and in general most of us avoid strict rules, religious or otherwise. So the fandom becomes a haven for people that feel they don't fit in with the ordinary world. If being furry became a normal and well-known thing, I think it would lose its mystery and its potency as a haven for us weird people, so to speak.

I think I wouldn't have to worry about being judged for what I'm into. This is saying that it's gone beyond the point of where gay's are now...that it's mainstream and widely accepted. I don't think I'd care one way or another if it became mainstream. I work at hot topic, so I deal with all sorts of fake hipsters all the time. It's the company you keep, my friends, not the group you are guilty by association with.
