Would you personally still be "into" it if it were mainstream? I know some of my friend only like people before they're famous like bands and stuff "oh I listened to them before anyone knew about them but now they're all mainstream so they suck"

Do you think we'd see a decline in TRUE furry fandom if a bunch of little hollywood tweens got into it because it was "cool"?
well i guess we would have to class ourselves as extreme furries or as furry veterans (fur before the mainstream audience)

i wouldnt like it while it lasted(though i could get away with wearing a tail to graduation) the result would be many, many arguements, but i would ride out the storm, so to speak.

so it seems to me that most furries enjoy being furry because of what it means to a fur to them, but also because its a low-profile fandom with alot fewer people than most other fandoms so were different, by far xD well once it becomes popular many its not fun being like everyone else, and it'd be hard to fight a tag along saying that you've been into for years when you've been hiding it. were special because we know what a true furry is, so the only thing that i would hate is people wouldn't exactly know what a furry is, they join to be cool like everyone else has said. they know what the pictures are and they would just wear tails and ears like other saying their furries, but i feel like if you don't feel furry on the inside too, your posing. know what i mean?

why does it seem as if no one wants to be with you until they want something?

I was having a conversation with my friend the other day about hipsterdom. He put it: "According to the internets furries are mainstream now, making you hipsterly!"
So maybe we are becoming mainstream if that's what others are hearing.

More on topic, It wouldn't effect me much, most people around here know about furries and either are furries or just don't care much, and on the internet most people I talk to know about it and furries being mainstream likely wouldn't effect their view.

i know this is why i would hate it ; because there are so few who are not "going through the motions"(so to speak) to fit in.

I think every "style" feels like this however. Like goths would hate me because I'm not like a goth, however I only dress in monochrome and dye my hair black. Metalheads despise teenagers that wear band shirts they don't even listen to. Kids that call themselves emo when they're not acting like one, being emotional, probably annoys some too.

It's not something that can be avoided.

Iwouldn't care either way...i'd still be apart of it no matter what...and I know that if it were to happenthere would be a lot of "posers" in it whoare in to it becasue it's "cool" not becasue of the real reasons...it would make wearing a collar and stuff easier to do in public...without getting weird looks....not to mention the ways to aquire a fursuit would be easier and probably cheaper...as companies would take advantage of that and make a market for it.....

It'd be like bronies and the new MLP show. Heck, they even had an article on the front page of the Wall Street Journal about it last Friday with absolutly nothing negative in it.

massporduction of fur suits ? hmm that might be a good thing... it would give some of the furs who really wanted one a fur suit. hell i could get one of my fursona in stead of a caracter i took on that the suit was made for.

yeah some people do give werid looks for wereing a collar in puplic but thats part of the fun of been a furry. if every one did it it wouldnt be fun at all.

Yeah I guess, or be awesome since lot of people wear collar to places and less weird looks would be given.
