The two species I've had fursonas of are fox and wolf, both can live in various climates but usually temerate.
I was born in Southern California, but I've lived in the Northwest far longer now. I've always liked forests. When we first moved up here, I exclaimed of the trees, "Wow, it's like having a campground in our backyard!" I've also always loved camping.
I've noticed other similarities between my habitat choices and that of fox; I'm comfortable in small spaces but like multiple exits, and my bed is simply a foldable futon on the ground, and *piles* of blankets. I like to be buried and warm.
I didn't choose fox and then base myself around it; I rather came to fox as I kept discovering ways it fit me far better than wolf, including lifestyle.
