Reptilians
« on: September 22, 2011, 02:43:11 AM »
Welp. I know there are specific threads around, but I figured I'd make a general reptilian thread. Why? Well, I dunno, what if you're not specifically one kind of reptile? What if you look like the bastard child of a lot of different reptiles? WELL. LOOK NO FURTHER. THIS THREAD IS FOR YOU. Got scales? Post here. Hell, I'll throw in a survey for the fun of it to get us started so we won't just stand around this thread awkwardly.

What's your species?

What's your favorite kind of reptile? (if not your species) and why?

Do you have any reptiles as pets? Tell / show us.

What's the best part about being a reptilian?

What's the worst part about being reptilian?

------
My responses:

What's your species?
Dragon Chameleon

What's your favorite kind of reptile? (if not your species) and why?
It's hard to say. For me, chameleons because I can relate to them a lot. Or Ball Pythons; I have one as a pet, and she's just lovely.

Do you have any reptiles as pets? Tell / show us.
I sure do. A ball python named Poe.

What's the best part about being a reptilian?
Looking badass. Having scales. Seriously, what's not awesome about being a reptile?

What's the worst part about being reptilian?
Generally, having that default pissed off look all the time. It's not my fault reptiles always look angry.

What's your species? Well, I am a dragon, but I'm also a Komodo Dragon, and a Dinosaur I call an Epanterian Tyrannotitan.

What's your favorite kind of reptile? (if not your species) and why? My favorite species is hard to say... I might say Komodo Dragon, but then again, there's also the Black Mamba I adore. Gonna say the latter, for now.

Do you have any reptiles as pets? Tell / show us. Unfortunately no. I want to get an Igauana, and my Grandma's cool with it; but my Grandfather is herpaphobic. Gah, when I move out, I'm getting one.

What's the best part about being a reptilian? Definitely the fearsome appearances, as well as the wide array of weapons that come with the species.

What's the worst part about being reptilian? Not many downsides, more or less just some other's dislike for reptilians here and there; but that's with every species. I can't really think of any really big downsides. The pissed off look is pretty accurate for me in real life, anyways; gotta break past it, everyone.

Woo! Someone responded. I also figured a downside is being unable to thermoregulate. That kind of blows. xD

Good God, that's what I was forgetting. Both my Komodo and Dinosona are cold blooded, so looks like they'll have to forgo any skiing trips they might get invited to. Ironically, I made Sytex semi-warm blooded. So his body temperature only slightly fluctuates with temperature, but keeps warm enough so to have him at least at a functioning level.

And thus we agree! *dives under comforter and makes it into an epic toga* Cold begone! >:U

Either I do that or move to someplace like the Caribbean. But seeing how I'm strapped for cash... Togas, togas everywhere. *finds a heater* I also gravitate towards these things. Fitting? I think so.

C/Amn ZombiezuRFER reporting as ordered, sir!

What's your species?
Spinosaurus aegyptiacus

What's your favorite kind of reptile? (if not your species) and why?
Dinosaurs and birds, just freaking awesome.

Do you have any reptiles as pets? Tell / show us.
Was supposed to get a cockatiel or cockatoo, but nope.  Skink, but nope (Chuck Testa)

What's the best part about being a reptilian?
Perhaps the alieness of being reptilian, as you are not a cookie cutter genus like a fox or wolf (Apologies to foxes and wolves that are unique) and are instead a unique persona, and from the get go, any reptile is inherently more involved than mammalians on a similar scale of "furry."

What's the worst part about being reptilian?

As reptilian in general, the worst part are the haters.  Those who find you a freak for choosing scales over fur, as though they are holier than thou and all that.  Frankly, the fact that these people say that you are wrong for something that wasn't even a question.
On the dinosaur level, the fact that there are so few Spinos out there makes it rather lonely.  Is my genus so rare I can't commune with its other members?

Well, who says it just won't snow? Or that snowmen might rise up and attempt to usurp power? Melt them with your heater. Or even slow roast food items! Make your clothes feel like they came fresh from the dryer? You see, it is a multi-functional item. But if you want it that way... *takes heater and basks in the warmth for fun*

Species: Central bearded dragon (Pogona Vitticeps)

Favourite reptile: Well, bearded dragons of course! Chameleons are a VERY close second.

Pets: A bearded dragon named Smaug, after the dragon in The Hobbit.

Best part(s) of being a reptile: The scales are great for walking through undergrowth. The tail is useful too. Hang a pouch from it and you have an instant pocket.

Worst part(s) of being a reptile: Ear-holes. 'Nuff said.

Oh my god, what an adorable name for a bearded dragon. That's close the the adorability of naming a two headed bearding Bert and Ernie. xD

What's your species? Dragon ^^'

What's your favorite kind of reptile? (if not your species) and why? I don't think I have really one. I love several species, some because they are very soft, some because they are smooth, some because they have a big fluffy tail... ^^'

Do you have any reptiles as pets? Tell / show us. Badly no, no pet... :x

What's the best part about being a reptilian? Scales very smooth! ^-^ and love of warm! They can also be cute!

What's the worst part about being reptilian? Cold blood not good to fall asleep during the winter
