Tails

I've been making yarn tails, and they turn out so amazingly realistic and beautiful. The only hard part is advertising them.


They are definitely soft and fluffy, and the base feels like...bones, almost. They move very realistically. My favorite ones to make are multicolored ones, because you don't know how it will look until it is finished.  I would love to post an example but my pictures are HUGE...oh, wait. Attachment. HAHA!

I play a lot of paintball and airsoft and I love adding flair to my camo. I purchased camo yarn to make a tail but I have a sizing question I only want the tail to be 1 ft long how much yarn should u use in terms of length? Thanks in advance for the help.

I haven't worked much with yarn, so I'm probably not much help to you in that area. But, I'm curious as to how you're going to make it. Crochet? Knitting?

Sorry I didn't see this sooner!  For a foot long, one skein of 140 yard yarn will be enough. I recommend I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby.

Now that I think about it, that yarn method seems to make a much more realistic tail, structurally, than the one I have that's just stuffed. Maybe I'll try my hand at it one day, too!

I already have mine measured to length and braided. I'll let you know how long the brushing takes me.

There actually is a tail that wags when you're happy It's made by the same creators of Nekomimi ears and is called the Shippo tail.

It does look a little feline, because the width looks pretty constant throughout, rather than it kinda growing wider and then tapering towards the end, like a fox's tail. But that's nothing a little careful clipping can't fix, I think. And foxes are technically vulpine, not canine.

   I kinda want a tail, but I have no idea where to look for one. Since my sona is a dragon, fur tails won't work, and I REALLY don't want that weird fabric that they use on plush fish... that stuff freaks me out man... *shudders*

It would be difficult as all hell to make, but maybe you could cut up a bunch of empty soda cans and spraypaint them to make scales? And then somehow attach them to a "spine" made of some flexible material...
