And although knives can be maniacal, guns are cheap and they take away the pleasure of combat, so $uck it, Trebek!

*Ignores the pain from a gash under his eye and brings himself in close, under Cifero's raised arm as it strikes. Uses his free arm to hold onto Cifero's dominant arm and lock it high.


(Trying not to power-play, but in a real fight... This is a legitimate counter and completely possible)

Knife fighting is the definition of dirty fighting. I've been trained in knife defense and fighting and it's not pleasant.

*Allows his knife hand to be stopped and brings one foot forward through Cifero's legs. Keeping Cifero's knife arm and shoulder locked under his own, Otebon brings Cifero to the ground hard. Otebon's knife hand, still out wide (and held) has trapped Cifero's arm underneath his body (unless it is retracted) as his other shoulder is brought to the point of breaking.


"Cifero... you should know that knife fighthing actually has very little to do with the knife.

*brings the butt of his knife down on Otebon's shoulder, freeing his trapped arm, then rolls away a few feet before standing and looking back*
I thought that you were calling it cowardly. Guns are cowardly.

*Rolls his shoulder to get rid of some of the pain.


"No, dirty as in tricky, despicable fighting. Guns are effective, but take the honor out of the kill.


*Rolls dagger across the back of his palms, returning it to ice pick grip.


"Shall we go again?"


*Pushes off the ground and leaps high into the air.


(Cif, sorry man for the knife fighting stuff. In a real fight... Also, thanks for the modification, but I was a bit more worried about the part about the cleric and all that. The parts that speak about a plan that the cleric [someone that wasn't in the tent, or existed before your mention] would know and that the squire is running from something.)

*Otebon lands quickly, knife held low, as he rolls towards Cifero. Coming up directly in front of him, Otebon leaps again, knife held to strike at his neck as he is carried over Cifero and lands behind him.

*Whips around and positions his own weapon to block the strike that is sure to come.*

*Brings Cifero into a close hug. Otebon presses himself up against Cifero, rendering his dagger useless unless it can be pried loose from the tight embrace.


"And now Cifero, we dance for real."


Otebon drops his weight, bringing himself and Cifero to the ground with Cifero on top of him.


(*Initiate ground fighting / wrestling)

No... dancing is fighting with swords.
*Wrests his arms free and wraps them around Otebon's neck, locking him in a tight embrace.*
This is wrestling!

(Just checking with you... as the 'roll' just started, we are facing each other. Wrapping your arms around my neck brings you rather far up the body, don't you think?)


*Otebon, still gripping his dagger, leverages himself to "shrimp" out of the way of Cifero's legs and bring his own above Cifero's waist. Entering a "Guard" position, he curls his legs around Cifero's waist and squeezes tightly.

(Sorry Cif. This is a completely legitimate jujitsu counter to what your body positioning is.)

Now gasping for breath and blinking rapidly to get rid of the stars floating around in his vision, Otebon knows that it's time to change up the contest.


Throwing his shoulders out and upwards, Otebon brings his head down to his chest and removes Cifero's grab on his head. Not to waste a single moment, Otebon throws his hips to the left while keeping his strong Guard and grip with his feet. This spins him around Cifero, landing him on top and behind his opponent.


With the knife still in hand, he brings it to Cifero's throat.


"Do you yield?"


(Done this a few times...)

*He grins.*
"Nope..."
*Stabs Otebon in the leg, then knocks him off while he's surprised and sheaths his knife, pulling out a sai.*
Can we practice with sais now?
