Please don't tell me you're one of those "American English isn't real English" people, and I hope that was just a joke.
It's normal for variants of a language to develop in other geographical locations. I don't understand why that's a big deal to people. Also, American English is hardly different from British English. Sure, a few words are spelled slightly different, and we call some things by other words. HOWEVER, that even happens WITHIN a country as well. It's called a dialect.
If it really was just a joke and it seems I'm overreacting, I'm just sick of people whining about friggen dialects on either side.
