Yep. "Pail" is a weird one. It's another word that's only used in some US dialects. The first and one of the few times I ever heard it used was in Blue's Clues, and I only understood what it meant from context, of course.




I thought it was weird that they called the character Pail at the time. In my region, we just call it a bucket.


But "Shovel and Bucket" doesn't sound as catchy for the duo. :P

That's so fascinating.  I used to think jelly was universal in the US for jam, then I was told that some people say jelly and some say jam... then I was told they are actually considered different things and both terms were used in some areas.


So now I don't know what to believe.

Yep, that's what happens when you mix people of multiple nationalities and spread them throughout various geographical locations. Dialects are weird.

Jelly is made from the fruit juice, while jam is made with the whole fruit. But many people informally use them interchangeably for whatever reason.
