Yeah. I do kinda wonder how it would go if a character was brought to real life and knew I'm their creator. Would they be angry with me for the tragedy I put them through just for a story? Or would they accept it and appreciate the enjoyable moments I gave them?

I very much enjoyed Gaemearth by Kevin J Anderson.  Turns out it's a trilogy and I never knew.


It's like a D&D setting where the characters are aware of game mechanics.  "Well we've reach the edge of the hex, that's our movement limit for the day.  Might as well set up camp" kind of thing.
