Correct or not correct does not apply to optimist or pessimist views, they are all equally valid as they are just simply different interpretations of the same data. The data doesn't change, the predictions of future data does not change either, there is no fundamental evidence to state whether an optimistic view or a pessimistic view is more correct. The data is so random, quite frankly, the view simply is what it is. Things are because they are, they happen because they happen through an extremely long series of causes and effects. I guess that's the realist view, still optimists usually live happier lives.
