Bullet ants are extraordinarily painful, 2.5cm long ants that have one of the most painful stings in the insect kingdom. There is a tribe that has a rite to passage, in which puberty is hold by wearing gloves, with these ants woven in (stinger first), for a full 10 minutes getting numerous stings to the hands. They have to undergo this ritual 20 times.
