What would you do if you woke up one morning as your fursona?

I think for me it would depend in large part on whether anyone else in the world had also been turned into their fursonas, and if this had made the news. If I turned the news on and found that a large portion of the population had been, I'd feel much safer leaving my house. But if I was the only one, I'd probably go into hiding for a while. I wouldn't want to put myself in danger...and someone seeing an anthro fox in real life might just scare the crap out of them.

That aside, I'd probably be really happy. I love my fursona and I'd love to be him. I'd have to spend a day getting used to my new body...the tail and fur would present new problems. Hopefully I'd have at least pads on my hands and fingers so that I could still grip objects without them slipping out of my hands. Learning how to maintain hygiene all over again would be another challenge. As anthros would we still sweat from our bodies? Or would we sweat from our mouths like canines? Body sweat + fur would probably make for a smelly populace.

As for talking, I imagine the human aspect of anthro would mean that most anthros would still be able to speak. I don't think we'd be limited to woofs and growls.

How would I react? I'd react with a complete and total psychological meltdown. My life, that human life I had grown accustomed to over twenty-six years. Even as a transexual, had grown to cope with would be shattered forever. We're talking if this really happened, not if it happened in our imaginary human world, but the real, dark, bigoted world we live in currently. My family and my boyfriend at least might be accepting of me this way, but the rest of the world might even be less so. That would go through my mind and I'd shut myself in the house. I'd instantly become agoraphobic and depressed if it happened.

I might shave my body, hoping that there's still a human underneath it all, only to find it's only a human-koala hybrid underneath. The hair would only grow back. My claws might make it harder to do normal things, my hair might get everywhere. Even certain foods might loose their appeal and their old taste. My fursona is female, how could I cope with my new female organs? It'd be challenging, it might be tiring at times and even painful physically and emotionally.


There'd be a ton of problems I'd face. Where would I get medical treatment if I needed it? How would emergency personnel treat me? What would happen to my rights as a human being in my country that constantly touts about freedom and just as easily, takes it away.

I may attempt to take my own life through it all, but let's say I do survive and learn to cope with myself and learn to cope in this world all over again. This time not as a human but as something entirely different, something alien. It would be highly challenging and stressful, it would bring a lot of sadness to me. Sure, there would be that moment with my boyfriend where, "yeah this is fun." but let's face it, reality sucks!

KoalaJen makes a good point. I would go incognito. I would grab my clothes and any money I have, maybe some of my valuables to sell later, then run off.
The first place I would go to would be Wal-Mart. Buy a backpack full of food and then make my way for Pennsylvania to live in the Pocono mountains. I'd built a nice little house out of a tree like in My Side of the Mountain. That way I could hike down to Anthrocon every year if I ever got lonely.

Nah I would probably go infiltrate my school... wait till day and scare the heck out of all of them. Might even sleep in the Biology lab fridge and cause people to ask question like "Why is there a humanoid wolf sleeping in the fridge?"

At first I might not actually notice, I'm not sure. I would see with much higher clarity for example, and might break something with my Augmented strength, like Adam Jensen does in the Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer. He reaches for a glass of what looks like Jack Daniel's whiskey, but it starts to break in his hand. I'd still seem exactly like myself in my 'defult' Human form, although I would also be able to change my appearance in Human form, like color, height, weight, gender, and voice. I would not abuse that. Several immediate advantages I could have would be a lack of the following; sweating, skin cell shedding, pimples, sunburn, and scarring. I would have full control over where and how my hair grows, and would keep it to my scalp and maybe face only. No other body hair at all. I'd also be immune to diseases, aging, and would be pretty damn hard to kill. I'd be pretty much like a Terminator. :P

I would then get to the really awesome part, and experiement with my new shapeshifting powers in private. I'm not sure if I would take a non-Human form in public, but I would like to just so my powers wouldn't go to waste. I would finally get to learn if being a cold-blooded Reptile really is as great as I think it would be. Also thanks to my Augmented strength and durability, (Not to mention my vision. XP) I'd be able to take a large Insectoid form without needing more Oxygen. And since I would be able to manipulate my own shape in ANY way I want, and not just simply pick from a library of quick forms, I'd be able to become any sort of crazy Chimera I'd want to be if I wanted.

I know! I could take my own arm off, regenerate it, then give the severed Nanobiotechnologically/Mechanically-Augmented arm to some prosthetic designer or something so they could reverse engineer the technology, and perhaps make it possible for anyone to be whatever they want too. Perhaps I could spare an eye or larynx or some other parts too. DeNihil can disable sensations of pain.

Only potential 'problem' would be my new subtle Illuminati programming... but I wouldn't worry about that too much.
