For all their failings, they made you, so they have done at least one truly wonderful thing.
I'd like to think they'll come around, but even if they don't compare yourself with them and marvel at how much of a change of attitude you represent.  You could have been just like them, so you are blessed by the progress just as we are blessed to know you.
