It's drinkable, but it doesn't quench the thirst in my soul like Coke do. It leaves a strange feeling of emptiness and "something's not quite right" behind after I've put the bottle aside.
The light version of Dr.Pepper is actually the only light version of anything I can consider drinking "just like that".
That version tastes like the smell at the dentists office back in my old hometown... It brings back some memories.
The normal version reminds me more of artificial cherries or possibly a slight hint of marzipan.
Only "real" complaint I have about it is that it's too fizzy and it takes half an eternity to shake the fizziness away.
(Believe it or not, I don't like fizzy drinks and tend to spend more time shaking it away than I spend drinking)
Thanks to that fizziness, I've had quite a few accidents where I've been too impatient, opened a bottle and found myself showered in it.
So while it is drinkable and useable as a substitute for coke, it's pretty bothersome for me to drink thanks to the extra fizziness they've crammed in there. I still buy it sometimes tho as a "side-drink" to my normal coke and to add some slight variety in my life. Best served warm and defizzed. An excellent choice for those long nights where sleeping is not an option and a worthy temporary replacement for coke when that's not available.
