I assumed any human spacefaring time system would be based upon terran time as much as possible. I further assumed that it would be based on GMT equivalent due to most places that I see using it as a standard. E.G. Sydney I believe is referred to as (GMT +9) if my calculations are correct.

Thus, helped by the fact I live in a GMT country, I input 24 hour clock in the format H-H-M-M, followed immediately by date in format D-D-M-M-Y-Y-Y-Y.

Therefore Stardate is H-H-Mi-Mi-D-D-Mo-Mo-Y-Y-Y-Y.

Stardates were not consistent.

In the times of the original Star Trek, it was pretty much made up to disguise the year.

In Next Generation and similar, it did have a calculation, but a complex one.

In one of the movies, it was basically the year.

Don't bother with calculators, just find your own style, I feel atm. It was fun designing it though. :P
