Bright as in luminsoity, or in "lightness"?
In terms of luminosity there's this argon discharge lamp up the street, it's bright enough to be more noticeable than the sun xD it's purplish color is the lightest I've seen today as well.

That's difficult. I just trolled my gym's sauna by filling it with coffee steam. That was fun :D And recent, I'll go with that.
