I mean, yes we it means we're right. But the more right we get, the less fun science becomes.
If it turns out we're wrong, then a lot of physicists will be scramming to invent new physics, physics will become a popular branch of science again and heaps of discoveries will be made.
Is it better for a scientist, when looking over his results, to say "YES I've got it!" or "That's not what I was expecting!"?
