You can't only rely on yourself, humanity as a species has only been successful through co-operation and even if you consider yourself completely self reliant, you aren't really. Because you live in a house made by others, on furniture made by others, on a computer made by others and so forth.

What do you think of Zeno's paradox? (In order to walk a distance, you need to first walk half that distance, but in order to walk THAT distance, you need to walk half that distance again, but in order to walk half that new distance, you need to walk half that new distance AGAIN, continue indefinitely)
