I've played them, but Marathon, Rise of the Triad, Wolfenstein, Blood, and several others were also there and should not be forgotten.

Blood is probably one of the hardest FPS games, do you agree?

PS1 graphics with a platforming game that has modern shaders and really long storyline and levels. Overall over 80 hours of playable content without becoming obscenely repetitive.

I've always wanted something of an Apocalyptic Sci-Fi FPS RPG set in a ravaged future with advanced technology, survival, exploration, parkour and an epic story line which involves co-op elements but with emphasis on the single player.
There a re games close to this, but I think more games need to be based on an epic story line and not just try create a setting and add the rest later.
I really just want a game with so much emphasis on the storyline as possible as video games are the future of story telling.
More than a game...
An Experience.

Yes, because the only way to get that kind of story is to buy a Japanese import from the vast selection of post apocalyptic space themed RPGs. I still think Dead Space covers what you're looking for.

Have you ever thought about how much work goes into making a game and then hoping the user input will be good enough for people to buy?

Deadspace lacks in story and exploration.
3 was a letdown of note...
And yea, it can make or break a company depending on the game's reception and so it's safer to make something that's generic.

But don't you think it falls down to if the company is making games to make money, or money to make games?

Making games to make money, this is the only driving force behind all motivation to work hard. The problem resides in the person describing how user input should be interpreted, what elements of incentive are considered desirable, and most of all the writers of the story. The biggest downfall of gaming is the Integration of casual gamers, because money talks and to people who are looking for an easy ride get easy thrills and are more apt to spend more money on DLC and microtransactions. Gamers have no place left to go except PC.

Thoughts and concerns on all future console gaming?

No real concerns other than how it'll eventually ruin gaming.
As much as what you say about gaming is true for consoles. It's far more accessible and easier to setup/maintain.
Steam Consoles can probably fix this, but I don't think anyone with their nose up their Xbox or Playstaion will care.
It still means companies need to put more towards developing to PC, even if Steam Consoles are effectively Next Next Generation.

More programmers and artists that drop the desk job and go independent, going back to their roots. OpenGL, C++, Cinema4D, Sony Ac!d, and teamwork. That's all we need to make good games again. Will it ever happen? Probably not, money shows stability and that's what people want that put their neck out for a very expensive piece of paper from a university. They have to pay it off and by the time they do that, they can't leave their job. Oculus itself has fallen, but independent developers that never fell into the traps, self-educated users, and people working day jobs, are the real hope we have left.

Same question.

I more or less agree.
There's quite a lot of excitement for Mighty No.9, but I think Indie gaming, while becoming more popular, will eventually slow down.
There's even more risk in spending years on a game only to be taken out by flappy bird.
Mighty No.9 is still an example that shines out for me, it just better not sell out.

Do you think crowd funding could be an answer?

No, because crowd funding comes from specific subcultures, usually originating from forums or specific communities that have popularized a concept and are apt to see it go through. The only people who can really make something happen, are the ones that care about games enough to put themselves on the line to make a difference. Sometimes this isn't really seen until the next attempts are made, but even so those people are often taken by the comforting pay of a large company interested in their work, then their work is taken and destroyed by the people they work with. Kind of like selling your soul to be popular.

Do you think working for a large company is ever a good idea if you are looking to do something new?
