Gimmick. also most children can't act. Would work for a story, maybe. but having it permanent would get old FAST.

Watch some old who, then you will understand (or ANY Stephen Moffatt episode BEFORE he started to run the show)
 
Partly it is nostalgia of course. but the show always had this sense of, light-hearted fun I guess? but also had times when it was willing to be dark, but never lost the fun aspect.
 
Someone else can explain this far better.

It doesn't bother me, I just assume it was developed on tumblr.

Do you often find something posted by Fox News, but then alternate to another news source that says exactly the same thing, but do it just because of the automatic disapproval of the phrase "Fox News"?
