Shinzuu's Manga Reviews and Recommendations!!
« on: June 07, 2012, 04:07:27 AM »
Hiya, everyone! Recently, I've been back into reading a lot of manga, and have also found out that there are many great mangas out there that no one knows much about or even knows exists! So, I'm going to be sharing reviews, commentaries and everything else for all the mangas that I'm in process of reading or have finished! I'm also accepting questions and inquiries in this thread so please feel free to share!

To start this off easy, I'll be reviewing the short, yet powerful, Lock-On! manga! It is a 1 volume, 22 chapter manga written and drawn by Kenta Tsuchida.
Lock-On! is about a young, professional photographer named Utsuru Sanada, age 17. He is a super ecstatic and passionate photographer, but has absolutely no shame. He says things very straight forward, and has frequent nose bleeds due to excitement (he is NOT perverted). Anyways, he pursues a girl who hates men, and wants to kill them all. Utsuru has a very special condition called Shutter Eye where he memorizes everything instantly, and can tell anything from emotions to actual measurements in an instant, including giving him the ability to dodge attacks and/or fight perfectly. It is a great story of love and tragedy and how two people completely ignorant of their world can come together.
Lock-On! is the perfect manga for those who like a semi-action packed story with a perfect balance of romance, and has very deep substance in the story. It's definitely and enlightening manga for those who are very close-minded, and also a very good guide to guys on what NOT to say to girls, if you haven't had many interactions with them.

Okay! Today's manga is for all the manly men out there! Just kidding, but it is a seinen manga, so it is an experimental-type manga aimed for men. Josei is aimed for females. Anyways, today's manga.

 AKUMETSU

This manga has been one of my personal favorites since its debut and finalization 3 years ago. Written by Yoshiaki Tabata and drawn by Yugo Yuuki. Akumetsu follows our very political, and high school heart throb, Shou Hazama. He is a high IQ student, and teachers' favorite. This year, Japan's history took a large turn with the re-election of a Prime Minister, and even moreso, the emergence of a vigilante who names himself Akumetsu. Akumetsu was a masked man who killed corrupt politics, and ONLY those he targeted and his mask blowing his own head off afterwards. However, there was more than one, and they all looked exactly the same. But not just physically. After investigating all the scenes, police have found that all the Akumetsus were genetically identical down to the cell. Even more peculiar, Akumetsu has the same hairdo as Shou. In fact, the two are one and the same. But how is this possible, and what is the purpose of Akumetsu? All this is slowly unraveled as you follow Shou's life, and the investigations of Officer Mamoru Yamada and Shou's love-interest, Shiina Nagasawa. See the beauty and web of complex plans and tie-ins of Akumetsu and his targets, as well as the physical, political, communal, and financial states of Japan, even the Prime Minister himself. Is Akumetsu really justice? Read his epic tale and be blown away in both intellectually and mentally in this action-packed 162-chapter manga!
