DEW's because they can be less lethal, or more lethal, then conventional weapons. They have more range for improvement.

...that is of course if we're talking about the future, if not then personal weapon platforms because no real DEW is in conventional use.

Nuclear Bomb or Death Laser? (An actual choice the Japanese made in WW2. What option did they decide? Well, let's just say they never got a nuclear bomb...)

Neither did we. In WWll we were using atomic weaponry, considerably less potent than modern thermonuclear platforms.
That said, I'd go thermonuclear. The psychological factor of a nuclear detonation alone can win wars.

It was said that Heisenburg had conversations with Bohr, subtly hinting to nuclear research programs, there are also letters between the two that do suggest that nuclear research was being carried out. I do believe the Germans has a nuclear program and I also do believe they were very far into it, but not as far as the Americans. I do not believe they carried out any successful nuclear tests however.

That said, this is not "Ask and Answer" it's the "This or That" so...
