The problem with mind uploading is you lose your sense of identity, it's no longer you, your consciousness has been moved from one body to the next, turned from chemical reactions to light, so you are essentially making a clone of yourself that is exactly you. It's the concept that the individual dies, replaced by a new, exact (and even superior) individual. I don't exactly know what indefinite life expansion is however. So, I'm gonna say mind uploading, with that issue in mind.

There's no reason to lose your identity as part of mind uploading, its just a different medium. The brain is dependent on its patterns, so by keeping them when your gradually replace the organic bits, you get an electronic brain. No need to copy, just replacing the brain piece by piece.

I would hardly call that mind uploading. Uploading a file means you send a file from your compute to another computer (or virtual server). Downloading is receiving a file from another computer, onto your computer. So, by simply replacing your brain gradually to an electronic brain, it's not uploading your mind, because uploading requires that you send your brain to a new system. The technical definition is:

To transfer (software, data, character sets, etc.) from a smaller to a larger computer.

  Just making your brain electronic isn't transferring data from one system to another, it's integrating one system to another, then once that system has been integrated it they are part of the same system, so it isn't transferring the two systems together. So, uploading would require the movement of your brains software (decoded) onto a different device entirely, not integrating a device into your brain.
  So I'd still go mind uploading though.
