Piano Man - Billy Joel

It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
The Regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin

He says, "Son, can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes."

La la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

Chorus:
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me."
As the smile ran away from his face
"Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place"

Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinkin' alone

Chorus
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you got us feeling alright

Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talkin' with Davy, who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life

It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see
To forget about life for a while
And the piano, it sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"

Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

Chorus:
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you got us feeling alright

No More from Into The Woods

No more questions, please. No more tests.Comes the day you say, 'What for?'Please.. no more.We disappoint, we disappear, we die, but we don't.They disappoint in turn, I fear,Forgive, though, they won't.No more riddles. No more jests. No more curses you can't undo, left by fathers you never knew.No more quests. No more feelings. Time to shut the door.Just.. No more.Running away, let's do it.Free from the ties that bind.No more despair, or burdens to bear,Out there in the yonder.Running away, go to it.Where did you have in mind?Have to take care.. unless there's a 'where',You'll only be wandering blind.Just more questions.. different kind.Where are we to go?Where are we ever to go?Running away, we'll do it.Why sit around, resigned?Trouble is, son, the farther you run,The more you'll feel undefined. For what you have left undone, and more,What you've left behind. We disappoint, we leave a mess, we die, but we don't.We disappoint in turn, I guess. Forget, though, we won't.Like father, like son.No more giants waging war! Can't we just pursue our lives, with our children and our wives,'Til that happy day arrives, how do you ignoreAll the witches, all the curses,All the wolves, all the lies, the false hopes, the good-bye's,The reverses,All the wondering what even worse is still in store! All the children. All the giants..No more.

Three fingers on a swollen hand
 Beside a dented garbage can
 A blind man staring
At something only he can see
 I spotted him like night
 Sky plotted and star struck
Sits at alone, eats at home
Rafted in a sea of blackness

 He rattles his cup
Just enough to call your bluff
You can't pretend you didn't see him
Catch his smile in the rear view
Out of the blue his guitar entered hard
 With three fingers he plays
Praise what he says might scare you
Once one can perceive how good it is to wear wranglers, one can begin to perceive everything else. It's all part and parcel. The soup is hot, the jeans are cool. The soup is cold, the jeans are out. Let us hear these words echoed from every corner and dead end of the universe.

Must P.J. Proby carry all the world's problems?

Fleet Foxes -  Blue Spotted Tail

Why in the night sky are the lights hung?
Why is the earth moving round the sun?
Floating in the vacuum with no purpose, not a one
Why in the night sky are the lights hung?

Why is life made only for to end?
Why do I do all this waiting then?
Why this frightened part of me that's fated to pretend?
Why is life made only for to end?

In the city only for a while
Here to face the fortune and the bile
I heard you on the radio, I couldn't help but smile
In the city only for a while

Why in the night sky are the lights hung?
Why is the earth moving round the sun?
Floating in the vacuum with no purpose, not a one
Why in the night sky are the lights hung?

Fleet Foxes - Blue Spotted Tail

Most people perceive it as a depressive or sarcastic song about the meaningless of it all. I see it otherwise. The meaning of the lyrics is actually in the answers to the questions being asked; the beauty of the innate, the nature of life.
Why in the sky are the lights hung? Because that's how it things are.... And isn't that a wonderful thing!!!!

king for a day by pierce the veil ft. Kellin Quinn

dare me to jump off of this jersey bridge
bet you never had a Friday night like this
give it up give it up raise your hands
I look up to the sky and I see red
red for the cancer red for the wealthy red for the drink that's mixed with suicide
everything is red

please wont you push me for one last time
let's scream until there's nothing left
I'm sick of playing I don't want this anymore
the thought of you is no *censored* fun
you want a martyr ill be one
because enough's enough I'm done

you told me think about it well I did
now I don't want to feel a thing anymore
I'm tired of begging for the things that I want
I'm over sleeping like a dog on the floor

the thing I think I love
will surely bring me pain
intoxication paranoia and a lot of fame
three cheers for throwing up
pubescent drama queen
you make me sick I make it worse by drinking late

scream until there's nothing left
so sick of playing I don't want to anymore
the thought of you is no *censored* fun
you want a martyr ill be one
because enough's enough we're done

you told me think about it well I did
and I don't want to feel a thing anymore
im tired of begging for the things that I want
im over sleeping like a dog on the floor

imagine living like a king someday
a single night without a ghost in the walls
and if the bass shakes the earth underground
we'll start a new revolution now

hail mary
forgive me
blood for blood
hearts beating
come at me
now this is war

*censored* with this new beat
nine out of ten voices want me to sleep the tenth is wondering if penguins have knees

This is the world I meant.
Couldn't you listen?
Couldn't you stay content,
Safe behind walls,
As I
Could not?

Now you know what's out there in the world.
No one can prepare you for the world,
Even I.
How could I, who loved you as you were?
How could I have shielded you from her
Or them...

No matter what you say,
Children won't listen.
No matter what you know,
Children refuse
To learn.

Guide them along the way,
Still they won't listen.
Children can only grow
From something you love
To something you lose...
At first I may seem mysterious, but when explained I'm nothing serious.

Nico Vega - Be giving

Say, we will be giving.
We won't be cheap, we will be willing.
We'll pray, for what we have
in honor of the fortune, we'll give thanks to the past.

I'm gonna drive off naked with the top down,
even if i don't make it to the next town,
I'm gonna sleep on the floor tonight cuz
I don't need a damn bed to survive on.

Chains cut, the chains see the world as a brother and a sister now
Chains cut, the chains see the world as a brother and a sister.

We're free...from the labor.
We will work hard for friends and neighbors,
We'll stay up above
Cause we belong here
with the light and the love.

Chains cut, the chains see the world as a brother and a sister now
Chains cut, the chains see the world as a brother and a sister now
Chains cut, the chains see the world as a brother and a sister
Chains, cut the chains, cut the chains...

Say we will be giving.
We won't be cheap, we will be willing.
We'll pray for what we have
in honor of the fortune we'll give thanks to the past.

I'm gonna drive off naked with the top down,
even if i don't make it to the next town,
I'm gonna sleep on the floor tonight cuz
I don't need a damn bed to survive on.

Chains cut, the chains see the world as a brother and a sister now
Chains cut, the chains see the world as a brother and a sister now
Chains cut, the chains see the world as a brother and a sister
Chains, cut the chains, cut the chains...
Cut the chains, cut the chains, cut the chains

Re-education Through Labour:

To the sound of a heartbeat pounding away
To the rhythm of the awful rusted machines

We toss and turn but don't sleep
Each breath we take makes us thieves
Like causes without rebels
Just talk but promise nothing else

We crawl on our knees for you
Under a sky no longer blue
We sweat all day long for you

But we sow the seeds to see us through
'Cause sometimes dreams just don't come true
We wait to reap what we are due

To the rhythm of a time bomb ticking away
And the blare of a siren's combing the streets

Chased down like dogs we run from
Your grasp until the sun comes up

We crawl on our knees for you
Under a sky no longer blue
We sweat all day long for you

But we sow the seeds to see us through
'Cause sometimes dreams just don't come true
Look now at what they've done to you

White needles buried in the red
The engine roars and then it gives
But never dies 'cause we don't live, we just survive
On the scraps that you throw away

I won't crawl on my knees for you
I won't believe the lies that hide the truth
I won't sweat one more drop for you

'Cause we are the rust upon your gears
We are the insect in your ears
We crawl, we crawl
We crawl all over you!

We sow the seeds to see us through
Our days are precious and so few
We all reap what we are due

Under this sky no longer blue
We bring a dawn long overdue
We crawl, we crawl
We crawl all over you!

ive got my life laid out in front of me like roads drawn on a map
ive had so many times where ive stepped off the beaten path
ive took the time to see the picture and for whats it worth
id walk a thousand miles without my shoes to make it work

I swore to god that im never coming back kept my faith when I was clapped
staring at the wall through a crack in the floor and these metal doors they got me trapped
I gotta remind myself that my mind is strong so I don't lose my head ive got my demons that I fight with every thought and every breath

I wear my heart upon my sleeve so my souls exposed
and I carry this disease the weight of the holy ghost
god can you hear me god is missing

take it back take it back my friend
all the things that you said about the end
this is it this is me telling you its over when its over
give it up give it up my friend
the score is settled even if you wont admit
settle down final round without a doubt its over when its over

you've got your life out in front of you like a car crash
unconscious at the wheel cause you were driving to fast
but if you took the time to check up in the rearview mirror you'd see the things you're driving from are your biggest fears
you gotta get back up from the rest of 'em and walk right through the fire
no matter what happens the fact is that the flames keep getting higher
you gotta keep on going keep tiptoeing through the fire and the flames and the pain of knowing
through all this doubt gotta keep on going gotta keep this spark gotta keep on glowing

its over when its over-fallin g in reverse
nine out of ten voices want me to sleep the tenth is wondering if penguins have knees

Look Through My Eyes

There are things in life you'll learn and
In time you'll see
Cause out there somewhere
It's all waiting
If you keep believing
So don't run, don't hide
It will be all right
You'll see, trust me
I'll be there watching over you

Just take a look through my eyes
There's a better place
somewhere out there
Just take a look through my eyes
Everything changes
You'll be amazed what you'll find
If you look through my eyes

There will be times on this journey
All you'll see is darkness
Out there somewhere daylight finds you
If you keep believing

So don't run, don't hide
It will be all right
You'll see, trust me
I'll be there watching over you

Just take a look through my eyes
There's a better place
somewhere out there
Just take a look through my eyes
Everything changes
You'll be amazed what you'll find
If you look through my eyes

All the things that you can change
There's a meaning in everything
And you will find all you need
There's so much to understand

Just take a look through my eyes
There's a better place
somewhere out there
Just take a look through my eyes
Everything changes
You'll be amazed what you'll find
If you look through my eyes

Take a look through my eyes

Rusted from the rain - Billy Talent

I stumble through the wreckage, rusted from the rain
There's nothing left to salvage, no-one left to blame
Among the broken mirrors, I don't look the same
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain

Dissect me 'til my blood runs down into the drain
My bitter heart is pumping oil into my veins
I'm nothing but a tin man, don't feel any pain
I don't feel any pain, I don't feel any pain,
I'm rusted from the rain

Go on... crush me like a flower, rusted from the rain
Come on... strip me of my powers, beat me with your chains
And if... I'm the King of cowards, you're the Queen of pain
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain

You hung me like a picture, now I'm just a frame
I used to be your lap dog, now I'm just a stray
Shackled in a graveyard, left here to decay
Left here to decay, left here to decay,
I'm rusted from the rain

Go on... crush me like a flower, rusted from the rain
Come on... strip me of my powers, beat me with your chains
And if... I'm the King of cowards, you're the Queen of pain
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain,
I'm rusted from the rain

Go on... crush me like a flower, rusted from the rain
Come on... strip me of my powers, beat me with your chains
And if... I'm the King of cowards, you're the Queen of pain
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain

Go on... crush me like a flower, rusted from the rain
Come on... strip me of my powers, beat me with your chains
And if... I'm the King of cowards, you're the Queen of pain
I'm rusted from the rain, I'm rusted from the rain,

Oh the sun will shine again, I'm rusted from the rain,
Well rusted from the rain, oh the sun will shine again,
Well rusted from the rain

Really don't mind if you sit this one out. My words but a whisper -- your deafness a SHOUT. I may make you feel but I can't make you think. Your sperm's in the gutter -- your love's in the sink. So you ride yourselves over the fields and you make all your animal deals and your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick. And the sand-castle virtues are all swept away in the tidal destruction the moral melee. The elastic retreat rings the close of play as the last wave uncovers the newfangled way. But your new shoes are worn at the heels and your suntan does rapidly peel and your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick. And the love that I feel is so far away: I'm a bad dream that I just had today -- and you shake your head and say it's a shame. Spin me back down the years and the days of my youth. Draw the lace and black curtains and shut out the whole truth. Spin me down the long ages: let them sing the song. See there!  A son is born -- and we pronounce him fit to fight. There are black-heads on his shoulders, and he pees himself in the night. We'll make a man of him put him to trade teach him to play Monopoly and to sing in the rain. The Poet and the painter casting shadows on the water -- as the sun plays on the infantry returning from the sea. The do-er and the thinker: no allowance for the other -- as the failing light illuminates the mercenary's creed. The home fire burning: the kettle almost boiling -- but the master of the house is far away. The horses stamping -- their warm breath clouding in the sharp and frosty morning of the day. And the poet lifts his pen while the soldier sheaths his sword. And the youngest of the family is moving with authority. Building castles by the sea, he dares the tardy tide to wash them all aside. The cattle quietly grazing at the grass down by the river where the swelling mountain water moves onward to the sea: the builder of the castles renews the age-old purpose and contemplates the milking girl whose offer is his need. The young men of the household have all gone into service and are not to be expected for a year. The innocent young master -- thoughts moving ever faster -- has formed the plan to change the man he seems. And the poet sheaths his pen while the soldier lifts his sword. And the oldest of the family is moving with authority. Coming from across the sea, he challenges the son who puts him to the run. What do you do when the old man's gone -- do you want to be him?  And your real self sings the song. Do you want to free him? No one to help you get up steam -- and the whirlpool turns you `way off-beam.  I've come down from the upper class to mend your rotten ways. My father was a man-of-power whom everyone obeyed. So come on all you criminals! I've got to put you straight just like I did with my old man -- twenty years too late. Your bread and water's going cold. Your hair is too short and neat. I'll judge you all and make damn sure that no-one judges me. You curl your toes in fun as you smile at everyone -- you meet the stares. You're unaware that your doings aren't done. And you laugh most ruthlessly as you tell us what not to be. But how are we supposed to see where we should run? I see you shuffle in the courtroom with your rings upon your fingers and your downy little sidies and your silver-buckle shoes. Playing at the hard case, you follow the example of the comic-paper idol who lets you bend the rules. So! Come on ye childhood heroes! Won't you rise up from the pages of your comic-books your super crooks and show us all the way. Well!  Make your will and testament. Won't you? Join your local government. We'll have Superman for president let Robin save the day. You put your bet on number one and it comes up every time. The other kids have all backed down and they put you first in line. And so you finally ask yourself just how big you are -- and take your place in a wiser world of bigger motor cars. And you wonder who to call on. So!  Where the hell was Biggles when you needed him last Saturday? And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you though? They're all resting down in Cornwall -- writing up their memoirs for a paper-back edition of the Boy Scout Manual. LATER. See there!  A man born -- and we pronounce him fit for peace. There's a load lifted from his shoulders with the discovery of his disease. We'll take the child from him put it to the test teach it to be a wise man how to fool the rest. QUOTE We will be geared to the average rather than the exceptional God is an overwhelming responsibility we walked through the maternity ward and saw 218 babies wearing nylons cats are on the upgrade upgrade?  Hipgrave.  Oh, Mac. LATER In the clear white circles of morning wonder, I take my place with the lord of the hills. And the blue-eyed soldiers stand slightly discoloured (in neat little rows) sporting canvas frills. With their jock-straps pinching, they slouch to attention, while queueing for sarnies at the office canteen. Saying -- how's your granny and good old Ernie: he coughed up a tenner on a premium bond win. The legends (worded in the ancient tribal hymn) lie cradled in the seagull's call. And all the promises they made are ground beneath the sadist's fall. The poet and the wise man stand behind the gun, and signal for the crack of dawn. Light the sun. Do you believe in the day?  Do you? Believe in the day!  The Dawn Creation of the Kings has begun. Soft Venus (lonely maiden) brings the ageless one. Do you believe in the day? The fading hero has returned to the night -- and fully pregnant with the day, wise men endorse the poet's sight. Do you believe in the day?  Do you?  Believe in the day! Let me tell you the tales of your life of your love and the cut of the knife the tireless oppression the wisdom instilled the desire to kill or be killed. Let me sing of the losers who lie in the street as the last bus goes by. The pavements ar empty: the gutters run red -- while the fool toasts his god in the sky. So come all ye young men who are building castles! Kindly state the time of the year and join your voices in a hellish chorus. Mark the precise nature of your fear. Let me help you pick up your dead as the sins of the father are fed with the blood of the fools and the thoughts of the wise and from the pan under your bed. Let me make you a present of song as the wise man breaks wind and is gone while the fool with the hour-glass is cooking his goose and the nursery rhyme winds along. So!  Come all ye young men who are building castles! Kindly state the time of the year and join your voices in a hellish chorus. Mark the precise nature of your fear. See!  The summer lightning casts its bolts upon you and the hour of judgement draweth near. Would you be the fool stood in his suit of armour or the wiser man who rushes clear. So!  Come on ye childhood heroes! Won't your rise up from the pages of your comic-books your super-crooks and show us all the way. Well!  Make your will and testament. Won't you?  Join your local government. We'll have Superman for president let Robin save the day. So!  Where the hell was Biggles when you needed him last Saturday? And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you through? They're all resting down in Cornwall -- writing up their memoirs for a paper-back edition of the Boy Scout Manual. OF COURSE So you ride yourselves over the fields and you make all your animal deals and your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

Lyrics that describe almost exactly my life at this time

Alesana: Hymn for the Shameless

I shut my eyes and once again the pleasure strangles me
I taste the tears of sweet indulgence pain and fantasy
oh the visions inside my head
the emptiness will haunt you
sanity is slowly slipping from my hands now
I'm standing closer to the edge than I should be allowed
there no regret inside my head
does that make me a killer
nine out of ten voices want me to sleep the tenth is wondering if penguins have knees

A song based on the iconic epic, Full Life Consequences.
