Snow picked up the crutch in both hand, admiring the smooth black metal. He ran his hand along it's length and found the button, and as he pushed it a foot and a half of sharp, shining steel sprung out. He pushed the button again and it popped back in. Marvelous.
"Thanks, Scout!" he said, climbing to his feet. He situated the crutch in his arm-pit and started a practice lap into the cave, around the fire, past the sleeping body of Furry and back outside. The sun was starting to climb by now as the last of the morning mist disappeared.
