Annoyance of Chat Shoutouts.

I've already had one person tell me off in the IMVU... but here is my opinion and my goal.

I've seen how useless and aggrivating shoutouts are in the Chat Window. I've gotten tired of them because they would interfere with options that cannot be used by other means, and I myself would like to have them stopped in the Chat Window. As for anyone else who may actually find them worthwhile, they can keep them or rely off of the web-based scrolling shoutout that always appears for all I care. Most of the time the Shoutouts are used for advertising, that's alright if they are used that way. But as for my point of view on this, I wouldn't want to be interrupted when I'm talking to a friend of mine by a businessman wanting to sell me something.

My main goal is to see the Chat Window shoutouts to be removed or an option to become available to the users so that they can decide whether or not they want Chat Window shoutouts.

Here's my IMVU forum reply.

For one I think shout outs in the chat window make the program run slower than it would without them there. Not that IMVU runs nearly as smoothly as it should though.

I'm in favor of having the option to turn them off in the chat window. Or perhaps have them on the messenger instead. (like MSN maybe)
I didn't care for them on my home page, but I always had the option to hide them. Frankly, I ignore them anyways.

I've actually seen some outright abuses of the shoutout... but that's where all the credits are going nowadays.

I agree with Vosur and Ephemeral. The shout outs in the chat window should be removed. It makes it harder to get to certain options and it also slows down the program a little. They already have shout outs scrolling on the IMVU website... It wouldn't hurt to remove them from chat windows!

Having the option to turn them off would indeed be very nice, but I don't think they should get rid of them entirely in case people don't hang around the website as much as they do the actual chat program. (Newbies, for example. I know I didn't go on the site much at first since I didn't know what was around there. Of course... that was like, two years ago, so I can't quite speak for the newbies nowadays.  :snicker:)

But I've also thought it would be nice to turn off those pesky shoutouts. So, as long as it would be optional, I'm all for it.

As I stated in the IMVU Forum... I wanted it to be an option. Some people may like knowing what products are out there... but I normally look for something if I want something. -shrug-

o.o There IS an option to turn them off. I have the shoutouts turned off right now. I think it's under the 'Settings' tab

I don't think so... Closest thing I see is Show Scrolling Hints in 3D Window, and I never have that activated.

Weird... I haven't seen the shoutouts in awhile. The only time I do is when I clear my cache.

I do want there to be a "Do not show me shoutouts in Chat Window" option.
