Into the Hornets nest(Open, FDF)
« on: December 04, 2012, 06:07:04 AM »
Mission Briefing-
The enemy has gathered stolen intel that could be useful to the FDF. However their base is smack in the middle of the mountains near the East coast. The enemy has also taken a total of 6 hostages when they stole the data. The mission is simple, get in, get what we need and get out. The FDF Airborne Division will go in first and secure the area for the second drop of troops and supplies. A third group will also be deployed and more will come if requested. Heavy ground and artillery support will be able to support the assault and suppress any heavy enemies you may come across in the mission. We dont know how many troops are waiting gentlemen but intel proves this should be a walk in the park. None the less, keep your heads down and your wits about you. Good luck.

*Zan stared at his boots for nearly the whole ride in the Black Hawk's. His troop and himself dressed in the woodland camouflage to help them blend with what ever the land may look like. He was in a trance almost as he listened to the choppers wailing. His gun butt resting at his boots as he held the barrel. He looked at his squad who looked about as nervous as him. One was loading his pistol, another was reading a bible and another was looking at a pic of his wife and pups. Zan smiled them looked at his gun.
"Five minutes"
The pilot announced, Zan shook off the trance and checked what he had. His sidearm pistol, loaded and cocked in its holster then he began to check his M-60 which too was in perfect shape and ready to be fired. Zan sighed. He was nervous in deed, he had done several missions before but he had a bad feeling about this one. He didnt know why, but this mission just made his ear twitch.
"One minute"
Zan took in a deep breath and watched as the radio manner turned the radio on. He twitched his ear at the sounds of faint explosions and he looked around the corner of the chopper. He could see dirt and dust flying high into the air as Artillery covered the landing zone. He sighed again then pulled his goggles down over his eyes. He watched as the landing zone came into view.
"Ropes" Shouted the captain "Go, go, go"
Zan reached out and grabbed the rope. Gripping it tightly with his hands and feet as he slid down. He felt ground under his feet then grabbed his gun and quickly got out of the way and laid down in the grass. Aiming his gun at the tree line as he waited for his troop to drop.

After a while the wailing of the choppers was gone and all was quiet...to quiet. Zan popped up in a crouching position and folded the stand out on his M-60.
"First platoon, lets move" Said the Sergeant. That was Zan's group and he watched as the the Sergeant pointed at the mound near the tree line. Zan and the others got up and slowly jogged through the field to the tree line as Second platoon went in the opposite direction. Zan breathed softly while he jogged. His pouches and equipment clunking as he jogged.
Gun fire began to irrupt in the background, Zan's heart stopped almost but he couldnt react to it. He had another to follow. When they had gotten to the hill and seen nothing the Sergeant walked over to Zan.
"OK, I want to M-60 right th-" POP POP, the Sergeant let out a loud yelp of pain then fell to the ground. Zan and the others reacted quick and quickly got down on the down slop of the mound.
"Contact!" A soldier shouted "We got-" THUNK THWAP the soldier was gone.
"Stay down!" Zan shouted. He quickly placed his M-60 where the Sergeant told him as enemies began to emerge from the trees.
"Fire fire fire, open fire!!!" A higher rank shouted and Zan's group including him began to fire at the enemy. The area quickly filled with the sounds of battle and the smell of gun powder. The painful wails of the enemy filled their ears as they fought. Zan strafed the M-60 back and forth slowly to mow down the enemy line.
BOOM!! Zan's ears rang and he was rained down by dirt and earth as a grenade exploded, sending three members of his squad backwards but he didnt stop. They were gone. He dared not look at the bodies, but stayed focused on the fight and only fight and what he was told to do. This was a hornets nest...this was hell.

Finally the fighting had grown to a halt and everything was calm. The radios were clear and forest was silent all was good. Zan kept his finger on the trigger all the same, thinking something was up. He didnt want to be taken off guard. Intel had already screwed them over, who knows what else would be waiting for them. Zan looked over at the medic who was tending to the Sergeant's wounds.
"how is he?" Zan asked.
"He will live" Said the medic, tightening the bandages. Zan nodded then twitched his ear to something. Something..rattling in the distance? Then it stopped. He could hear something...what was that? Zan leaned up out of his fox whole and looked over the mound slightly too look around. He then heard a loud blast in the distance and a second later. A large explosion kicked dirt and earth up and over the mouth. The loud blast rang in his ears as he and fifteen others ducked their heads and bodies down. Tree trunks and shattered and sent the trees plummeting to the loud in a series of cricks and crack before resting in front of the line.
"The hell was that?" Zan shouted looking at another soldier.
"TANK"
Zan's heart began to beat as he could hear the foot steps of soldiers coming their way. He readied his weapon and aimed. He seen them running out of the trees. Rushing the lines as fast as they could go, they were so close he could smell them. Pick out every detail of them.
"Contact!" With that he squeezed the trigger. His ears rang with the constant blasts of his, and other guns. He could faintly hear the radio manner calling in artillery support and soon the area in front of the lines was erupted with the blasts of artillery shells hammering the enemies advance. Then, he heard them request the heavy ground support. With nothing to see to shoot he ceased his fire until something appeared.
"We have Abrams, ETA ten minutes with the second drop!" The radio manner shouted.
Zan sighed, he was happy to have they now got the support. But...ten minutes...
"Could we hold out that long.."
With another blast, he ducked his head as more earth shot into the air and rained down on the lines.
"This is going to be a long ten minutes...but we can do this..."
He then readied his weapon again for the longest ten minutes of his life.

Many pops of rounds could be heard going off left to right from a strange looking soldier, completly differant from the others of both forces, he or rather it looked completly focused, trying to make its way through the feild, between the firefight moving from whatever cover it could. The Soldier looked like it had been wearing black heavy armour, with a large grey shoulder pad on its left arm with a black canine paw print painted onto it, with a large metal "scar" going at an odd angel from left to right, looking like fragmentation ware, its head was wearing a full faced EOD mask completle with cheekguards and visor, it being a dark and dirty orange with a thick helmet, ontop of it was a strange device mounted ontop.

The soldier was fast running through hell and highwater not firering on either side with a large heavy assault rifle, bul-pup of design, compact but suprisingly bulky and completly black, its back mounted behind the trigger securley.
Its attachments consisted of a meduim power scope and a flash supressor.

So far it had been untouched but its uniform hadnt belonged to a country as it carried no flag, the only thing resembling ownership would be the paw print. The rest of the armor was odd, bulky and well laid out for so many pouches and pockets, four grenades were mounted on its chest with a small block of somthing, like the equivilent of a block of C4 Explosive, but for what?

The Heavy unit was up to somthing, popping his head out now and again looking at the tanks position and the soldiers around it. Looking like he had taken a few hits already, his armor taking the damage, He was crouched down in crater, reaching down in one of many pouches he takes two seperate smoke grenades, and 3 grenades tapped together

It looked crazy from anyone elses view, but from body launguage alone, he looked like he was serious, his posture was professtional, and pretty strong. Taking a deep sigh his shoulders and chest rising and falling, he watched, and waited for the right momment...

Zan was nervous as hell as the enemy rushed the line. Taking cover nearly a few yards away. It was getting so intense he could only shoot off a few shots before having to take cover again because of the barrage of bullets coming at them. This was getting bad, out maned and out gunned and practically in bayonet range. But Zan didn't stop. Nor did any other of the soldiers. Through the dead on either side, the screams and the roar of gun fire. They fought. He noticed the fire of the enemies were focused else where but he didn't look at what. He heard a few pinks of bullets against metal and armor but he paid it no never mind. He took that to his advantage and popped up out of his fox whole and poured bullets at the enemy. A few charged behind the tank before it shot off another round. The round blasted through two trees in front of the line and sent them tumbling to the ground.

"What are our orders?!" Zan shouted. Looking over at where the highest ranking soldier was. Who was dead and laying back on the ground. Nobody else was giving orders...He then sighed and growled.
"Grenades!" He shouted. "Get some grenades out there!"
The line then laid down covering fire as a few soldiers lobbed some grenades at the enemy. But after the explosions he heard someone shout grenade at him, at his side was an enemy grenade. Zan reacted quickly and brushed his hand back then forward quickly, chucking the grenade away before it exploded.
"Don't slack off. Keep throwing!" He shouted then as a soldier went to throw another he fumbled and dropped it beside Zan.
"Grenade!" He shouted, Zan then jumped out of his fox whole and rolled into another as the grenade exploded.

He wanted to say so many words, but it seemed like the grenade barrage was working. Somewhat. He gasped at his shoulder which was still a little sore from a previous mission. It felt worse, but he brushed it off as nothing serious. He pulled his pistol and looked over at a..soldier? He hadn't seen a soldier dressed like him, but he seemed familiar. Almost like he had seen him before. Anyways, his gaze on the soldier was interrupted as another tank round exploded near them. He then looked over of the crater at the tank and around it.
"We got to take that tank out!" Zan shouted at his line. "The next time that thing fires, puff smoke and charge their lines. That tank is what is keeping them alive. Ready smokes, its time to make a move!"

He hoped he was right. They take that tank out, the enemy line shatters and the fire fight is theirs and the line is held. He held his pistol firmly and waited. His heart pounding heavily in his chest then the tank fired again. The round missed and shot over the line.
"Move!"
Zan stood up and motioned for the line to charge and they did while Zan lead the way. The enemy seemed to scatter, surprised at what they were seeing. Leaving the tank wide open and vulnerable.

Ember had her back to a busted wall she was using for a makeshift cover. Herself and Steel company were scattered along the forward line, giants among the smaller infantry, attempting to hold back the armor.

"Oddball!" she barked over the com. "What's the situation?!"

Over the crackling radio feed, she heard the booms from Oddball's T-14 Impaler Gauss Rifle.

"Enemy just tried swarming us but we held them off. That tank though is giving us problems. We are four clicks from the waypoint."

Ember heard the shell of the tank fly overhead and crash behind her, too far away for the explosion to hurt, but cause small debris to ping off of her armor.

"ALright then... we are just gonna have to-"

"MOVE!"

She turned and saw the FDF Infantry line moving up quickly, causing the enemy to back off in shock.

"Change of plans. Steel Company, advance with the push. Target enemy armor, then switch to anti personnel rounds!"

As confirmation sputtered through the coms, Ember pulled out of cover, her speakers letting out a howlish battle cry, and her gun fired deafening rounds into the tanks armor, puncturing it's outer hull. She hoped she could hit a fuel line.

Delta layed off two simple rounds at the tank, taking a mere second to take aim, both shots straight after the other after throwing the bunch of grenades, after the tincan had opened up a section of the tank, he saw some olive-oil like fluid pour from the tank, aiming perfectly, the tank's one side exploded, harming the crew inside and blowing a large section of the tank out, mainly the back right and half of the track on that side with it, with a T-90A focusing on keeping the tank working despite hull damage it was likly that is could still work, keeping his vistion foucused on keeping that tank empty, or so he hoped and not operational, he layed off another 3 shots, one after the other, taking out 3 soldiers trying to get into the tank despite the massive damage done by both Delta and the Mechnised Infantry.

Delta couldn't focus on anything but keeping himself alive after the previous battle, he needed to get back to his mech, the damage done to his armor was rather astounding with the metalic scars and broken shoulder pad on his left, looking like smashed glass, not a hard, dense metal.

Delta hadn't talked, not just yet, Not a single word came out of him during his time with the soldier next to him, all the other soldier knew so far, is that Delta had been through hell, and he was a great shot.
With the rounds landing in the mud, the ear shattering bang was louder than most weapons, if he noticed the rounds were bigger than 50.'s, by a good inch or three with every shot the gas flung out of the bulpup chamber like a rifle with a small supressor latched onto the barrel...

His plan was working sort of, but the enemies that tried shooting back were quickly cut down by the heavy units and infantry fire. The tank was finally upon them, they had to be quick. The tank wasn't moving but the crews are fast. They would have to take the tank out quick, before the crew finished loading the next round. Another soldier pulled the pin of a grenade then began to climb the tank as the tank was pounded by heavy bullets.
"Get down!" Zan shouted, jumping onto the tank and tackling the soldier off it as the bullets ripped through the hull of the tank. He and the soldier hit the ground with a loud thud, making then both loose their breath as he let go of the grenade. Zan reacted quick and shouted a warning before rolling on top of the soldier. But nothing happened. He looked over and the grenade didn't go off. He sighed then haled the soldier to his feet.
"Go, keep moving!"
But as he and the soldier ran past the tank, the tank exploded outward. The explosion was loud, and sent Zan and the soldier tumbling backwards. It hurt...but he could take it. He tumbled to his feet then checked the other soldier who had been killed by the blast.

He sighed then looked at the line as it continued to move up then charged forward to catch up, picking up his pistol that he had dropped.

Everything seemed to deafen, all he could hear was his breathing and the sounds off his feet hammering the ground. He looked up at the enemy line, watching them set up light machine guns in hopes to hold the line. There were two. As he ran he aimed, or tried to. His arms wasn't steady at a run. He needed to pick his target before shooting. He looked down the sight and fired. The gunner was down, he then turned to the next gun which was closer then the other. Making the gunner an easier target. Click...

The gun was set and began to fire. Zan's run became a sprint as he threw his pistol at the man helping the gunner, hitting him in the face with his boot as he tackled the gunner into the fox whole. The rest of the line was swarmed by allied forces and the enemy began to run. The gunners crew member ran as Zan pulled his knife and tried to stab the enemy but the enemy rolled his over and as they fought hand to hand, Zan was winning but the enemy grabbed the knife from him but biting wrist. Zan screamed and then found the enemy on top of him. Trying to plunge the knife down. Zan fought back but the pain in his shoulder and wrist made it very difficult. The knife slowly inching its way to him as he fought back, the enemies eyes a slight yellowish glow as he smiled and whispered to him as the knife came even closer. Zan clutched his teeth together and tried to push away, kicking and squirming but nothing seemed to help. The knife kept coming and Zan for the first time. Was truly afraid.

Ember noticed the FDF trooper (Silver) wrestling an enemy soldier, the trooper flat on his back, knife to his face. She couldn't shoot the enemy off without risking friendly fire, and she couldn't use her magma blade for the same reason. Suddenly an idea struck her. Grinning, she sprinted forward and swung her foot into the face of the enemy trooper. With a startled yelp, he went flying into some barbed wire, leaving a bloody smear on her foot plate. Stepping in front of the FDF trooper, she fired a volley of her gun's rounds into the enemy.
She chuckled imagining the look on the enemies face as her boot broke his body.

"Hey buddy, no being a hero, okay? This is war, not outshine everyone else." her voice came out gravely over her voice box, muffled by the heavy gunfire.

As she said that, The unknown soldier ran infornt of them, as fast ever he sprinted into the open, taking one shot at a time at the retreating forces, and the defensive line, tossing a smoke infront of them, the faint pops and large baragges of fire could be heard behind it, what was happening? what was this soldier exactly trying to acomplish?
Taking one professtional shot after the other, not one round missed exactly where he wanted it to go, right between the eyes of the shooter and the loader of the machineguns, startled with either the lack of self preservation and courage, most of the troops Delta engaged were startled, and before they could think, they went down to their muddy graves, letting his rifle go on to its sling, Delta tore out two more grenade bunches, running between and somhow through enemy lines he tossed on either side of him landing in two fox holes with devastating results as he penertrated the enemy lines, and the enemy fortifications went up in flames with devastating explostions one after the other as the grenades went off as quickly a they were thrown, Delta after this flung slide into a unmanned foxhole, catching his breath..

The enemies line of defence had all but broken. The opposing soldiers scattered for the combined might of the FDF. Close towards the trenches, what only minutes before been a battlefield, a lone FDF trooper lay clutching his belly where a piece of scrapnel was sticking out. He knew he had lost a lot of blood. He knew he would die. In the faint distance, the battle raged on. But here, the soldier could only feel a serene calm. It was over.
But then, just as the man wanted to close his eyes and wait for the inevitable, life gave him a second change. "Doc! Medic! I got one! He's alive!!!" With quick steps, Doc, one of the medics in the FDF's taskforce came forward, holding his medkit close, knowing fully well that the red cross on his back would not protect him from enemy fire. He had had a pretty good militairy education, carried a 9mm gun with him at all times, and he was able to use it, but he was not a killer. He was a savior.
He got to the survivor, now with the trooper that had called for his help kneeling next to him. He got down and assessed the situation wordlessly. Scrapnel punctured the belly. Possible internal bleedings. Somehow, the piece of metal hadn't his any of his major organs. The guy would survive, if he could stop the bleeding. "Hang on buddy, we'll get ya out of here." The trooper had already slumbered to unconsiousness. Knowing time was of the essence, he grabed the piece of scrapnel and pulled in out as fast as possible. The soldier grunted in pain, but stayed in his slumber. Thank God.
He motioned to the second trooper to keep pressure on the wound so no more, or at least far less blood escaped the body. Then he cleaned and desinfected the wound, and put a bandage over it. Multiple other troopers had arrived, and together they hoisted the guy on a stretcher and moved him to the evac zone. His job done, Doc moved on to the trenches, searching for other wounded that needed his assistance, even when that brought him dangerously close to the enemy lines. He was, above all, a medic.

Being smaller than all the other guys in the platoon had always made Cass the target for cruel jokes and treatment. The small framed rabbit was unable to carry the larger equipment that other soldiers carried, such as light-machine guns or rocket launchers. Although, there was something that the ones that they could notemulate, which was Cassidy's accuracy when it came to long range engagements. Almost everywhere he went, Annabelle, his trusted M40A5, went as well. The rifle had been tailored to his exact specifications, and in his hands was a devastation tool. The barrel was threaded in a manner which gave the rifle extreme precision, while decreasing the range slightly. Annabelle was a weapon to be feared on the battlefield. The small statured rabbit refused to wear the heavy, bulky equipment that normal grunts lugged around with them, and his C.O. couldn't be bothered to continually fight Cass about it. In this environment it could only serve him well.

From his perch in the tree, well away from the front lines of the fighting, he could hear the screams of men in pain. The grenades sent small butterflies fluttering through Cass's stomach as he held Annabelle steady. His small figure would hardly be distinguishable from the front lines, unless someone was staring at him through a scope, which Cass prayed wouldn't be the case. The leaves surrounding him in the tree faltered and trembled as the loud bang of grenades resonated through the ground. From the tree Cass had chosen to climb up into, he could see the sweat on both freindly and enemy troops. He quickly gathered himself and pulled the bolt back on his rifle, readying the next round. Cass then rested his left arm on a very well placed branch, before laying Annabelle upon his arm. His index finger slowly found the trigger, and he mentally readied himself to take another mans life.

"Sit mihi rotundum percusserit vera." Cass whispered to himself, before catching his breath halfway up his throat.

A very audible 'BANG' could be heard from behind the lines as a 7.62 NATO round was hurled towards an unlucky enemy combatant. The round would strike true, taking it's victim down without him even knowing what was coming.

Cassidy would reach up, and sharply pull the bolt back, letting the now burning hot, discharged shell casing fall to the ground. The empty shell bounced off of the tree branches as the stench of fresh cordite filled the immediate area. From behind the shooting glasses, the rabbit's eyes would be fixed on the scope, scanning for his next target of opportunity.
