Favorite 90's cartoons?
« on: March 15, 2013, 08:34:09 PM »
I often feel bad for the current generation and all the horrible cartoons they watch. It makes me remember all my favorite 90's shows, Gargoyles and Swat Kats, Hey Arnold and rocko's modern life... What're yours?

Early pokémon. I've watched literally EVERY episode up to the seasons in Hoenn, and hotdamn it's been a good long ride. Also played nearly every single game. Favourite is still Pokémon Ruby. Team magma rocks.

I think quite a few modern cartoons are really good!
But, to answer your question, my favorite 90s cartoon is Animaniacs.
I love it so much.

Ahaha, I always raged when it was on TV. Never liked it, found it annoying myself. There's not alot of cartoon series I really followed, as when I got home I'd switch my gamecube on asap :P

I'm an 80s kid (and can't stand the fact that kids would rather watch anime nowadays rather than homegrown cartoons).

Anyway, of 90s cartoons, I'd say Capitol Critters (cookie if you ever heard of it!) even though it only ran for 7 episodes on ABC before getting axed (other 6 eventually ran on Cartoon Network...10 years after it was cancelled!)

@TyVulpinator: Well, it's just that most American cartoons don't treat themselves seriously enough. A lot of people want storylines and action, and perhaps even want the show to be a bit explicit, but none of that appears in American cartoons usually. I do like American toons though. I just wish I'd get more American toons that have very detailed storylines with action and such. I think the modern Legend of Korra is the closest any American show has gotten to what I want American toons to be. Don't worry though; I love American cartoons too, even when they aren't serious or story-based.

Most American cartoons nowadays are preachy and non-violent thanks to our good ol' government that made laws that made them that way! Heaven forbid 80s cartoons like GI Joe, Transformers etc can't be done nowadays because parents groups and such (most of whom probably watched them themselves!) have to have a cow and protest!

Have all the approval, Ty.

Yes, great 90's cartoons. Let me list my favorites - Angry Beavers, Beavis and Butthead, Pokemon, Batman (yes, the one Puncia listed), Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls (yes, I watched it), Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Sonic SatAM, Dragonball Z (the English version), Batman Beyond, and a few others.

Late or not, these shows still held that essence of the nineties in them. I loved them so as a young kid, and just... cannot stand most modern cartoons. Exceptions being Avatar and Legend of Korra, and maybe a few others. But honestly, I hardly even watch TV anymore. If anything, I'll watch something like Mythbusters or the News, or some other educational show.

One of my favorites was freakazoid... So awkwardly funny.

I was obsessed with Pokemon as a kid, so I would easily consider that my favorite.
