Jormung; The list it's self is sorta enchanted... if you die your name fades away from the document. and those still there will be put into designated Arenas, of course by then quiet a lot will be killed off, from what Shinzuu said, a lot of them are like normal peasants and lower rank warriors... so they aren't much important, aside from dying the only one able to remove your name from the list is you yourself that signed it, lot of which quit out of fear. Kind of a little perk in the spell really.
Betrayer; I have an idea to make your future soldier a bit more equal in the medieval times, cause all that mumbo jumbo hurt my head reading... felt like I was back at collage again.
