Oh lovely, this again... I still think a little more information about what exactly they're doing would be nice. At this moment, I'm still not buying it.

Asylum Entertainment have been asking all over the internet for furries since roundabout September 2011 for an episode of the MTV show True Life to be titled True Life: I'm a Furry where they want to chronicle the real life of a Furry and have no intention of showing Furries in a negative light but instead hope to dispel some of the media myths out there about them.


They've been asking on numerous sites and TFF just happens to have been caught under it's scope.


However, there is indeed evidence that MTV are planning the episode, a casting notice that was up on their website proves this, and a look on the Asylum Entertainment website front page will show a banner for the show, despite not being found anywhere else on the site.


I'd be careful, even if it's on the terms of how MTV have portrayed furries in the past, perhaps more that this is the second time this site has been approached and especially because this is the internet.

I must agree with Razot. It seems suspicious that they've posted about this twice now. And the fact that they're asking furs to add them on Skype is raising an even bigger red flag for me.

I honestly don't trust any TV source to portray furries as anything but what would make the general viewing audiences (who've already made up their minds, and won't change them) happy. I.E., sex-obsessed zoophiles, or pedofiles in disguise. It's not like TV treated bronies any kinder. Be very cautious about this.

A couple of notes:

To those who would consider taking up this offer: be wary. There's no guarantee that they will quote you accurately, nor that they are interested in portraying the fandom in any positive way. In fact, it is very likely that they will at the very least show us as 'hey, look at these freaks,' if not downright harmfully inaccurate.

To the casters: You have no way of verifying if anyone who takes you up on this offer is actually furry. Any random internet troll could lie to you; why not go to a convention and try to talk to people there? None of the possible answers you can give would make me think this offer is legitimate or interested in doing anything positive for the furry community.

On that note, I, as moderator, am locking this thread. I feel I have a responsibility to this community (which has already been the target of attacks for no further reason than that it is furry) to not allow the fandom to be portrayed negatively. I will not delete this thread, but I will delete any further requests that are posted, which would technically be spam anyways. Furrycasting, you can PM me to discuss the lock if you want. I will apologize if you are truly (pun intended) approaching the fandom from neutral ground, but sadly, due to the actions of others, I cannot give you the benefit of the doubt.
