Nyxlie got up, nodded to the unlikely band and walked out of the dining room.
Dammit. I forgot to ask Nyx her room number. She walked slowly up the stairs, already on alert, glancing back and forth. Fear slid a cold, sly hand down her back and Nyxlie felt her heart beat far too loud. Once on the second floor, she looked down the hall and felt as if it grew longer as she watched.
Woah. Just a little too much champagne for you tonight, girl. Trying to shake off her cold fear, Nyxlie walked down the hall, looking for her room.
It wasn't until she passed the fourth door that she realized that none of them had numbers on them any longer. "What the..." Before she could finish, Nyxlie once again heard that soft, horrible whispering. She whipped around, looking for the source but froze when she realized... the stairs were gone behind her! She ran back the way she had come and it was as if the hall never ended. A continuous hall of despair... despair that started to make it's home in Nyxlie's fast beating heart.
"Hello! Anyone in there?!" Nyxlie screamed, beating on one of the doors and pulling on the handle. "HELLO?!"
Nyxlie suddenly felt cold. Not a natural cold but a cold that froze souls. Barely able to contain her trembling, Nyxlie reached down for her gun... but found it was gone.
Oh no... With her faithful gun gone, Nyxlie reached down and grabbed her a telescopic baton with each hand. With a flick of both wrist, both extended to their full length and locked into place. Now Nyxlie crouched, listening hard to the terrible whispering, her batons at the ready, fighting to slow her breathing.
Wait... I can almost tell what it's saying... help us? Before she could fully understand the sorrowful whispers, Nyxlie gasped as something invisible slammed her against one of the doors. She could almost hear the crack of one of her ribs. Rolling as she fell, Nyxlie was once again in a crouching position, turning every which way, trying to discover but one glimpse of her attacker.
"Where are you?! Are you going to kill me without ever showing your disgusting face?!" she screamed down the empty hall.
As if mocking her fear and desperation, the
thing grabbed a hold of both her ears and slung her down the hall. Nyxlie cried out, moving her batons around her as she tried desperately to hit
something. Nyxlie slid to a stop and laid there dazed, trying desperately to get a hold of her surroundings. The champagne was not helping her effort.
Suddenly, Nyxlie heard a rustling behind her. Jumping up, she turned around and saw... a human child. A human little boy. He was walking , no skipping towards her. She could hear him humming a little child's tune as he came towards her. Nyxlie backed away slowly, knowing that this was NOT natural.
"Stay away from me. Don't come any closer!" she yelled, continuing to back up, holding her batons out in front of her.
wah? Nyxlie had backed up into a.... wall!
She turned back to the steadily approaching child, now only a few feet away from her. "STAY AWAY FROM ME!!" she screamed, raising one baton to strike the child.
NOOOO! Nyxlie's entire body had frozen. She could barely breath. She looked down at the child in stock fear, feeling as if anger and hatred was now tearing at her soul. She wanted to scream but only she could hear her silent screams in her head.
She met the child's eyes... and saw only darkness. Two neverending pits of hell. She felt those eyes begin to swallow her, to eat away at her, to shred every happy memory she ever held dear.
The child grinned, exposing chisled teeth and... hugged her.
Nyxlie's world exploded into pain, misery, sorrow, anger, hatred, agony, and before she closed her eyes to the enveloping darkness, she had but one thought.
I wished I had told him... I loved him.OOC:
I'm afraid I needed to write myself out. I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow. Maybe when I get back, I can somehow write myself back in again. Guess I'll have to wait and see.
And if you're wondering what a telescopic baton is, here's a link.
